Relink doesn't work

Hello,

I'm working on a few projects and I was stupid enough to change the name of a few folders, leading into a "relink" situation.
Only it won't work, even though I'm pointing the VS to the file, in his original location, no changes made, he returns that "some of the links did not relink successfully", something like that.
Anyone has an idea on what to do to save my work?

You have not told us what version of VS you are running, you can only relink a .vsp file, doesn't work with any other saved name

David – welcome to the forums

Re-linking should work and best when our files are within the same folder as Smart Re-link will play its part by auto choosing other files within that folder.
If your files are fragmented across the hard drive then re-linking will take some time.
We have however to be accurate when selecting our file, the program can apply a re-link even if we choose the wrong file, and that will disable the Smart Re-link option, and certainly messing up the project. You may be best to save a copy of the project before re-linking.
The re-link panel shows the last known location of the file, followed by the browse window which indicates the actual file name, make sure you use that.
If the process only re-links to one file in a folder, or get the message that not all have been re- linked - I find it best to open the project again this should then show the auto relink, you should re-link to this file.
Quick launch for projects from File – bottom of list are 4 last used projects, then re-link.

I noticed on our log files that you solved your re-link issues and subsequently deleted your post.
Unfortunately another post from you was waiting to be approved, this one.

Can you comment on the problem you had so others with similar issues may benefit

I'm using VS Pro 2021, 24.1.0.300

What do you mean by vsp, isn't that a project file? That's the kind of file I use.. still it doesn't manage to relink any of the videos.

Hi yes, even though the yellow icon of a broken link showed on a video preview, I wasn't able to click on it and browse for the file.
I found out I had the option to select it and the press relink via the file menu on top instead of double clicking the video itself.

OKAY! So I actually solved that one too... LOL

As it turns out, and, as I should of remembered from the pass, VS is allergic to file names that aren't in English.
Once I made sure all folder and file names were switched from Hebrew to English, problem got solved and I was able to Relink everything.
That was indeed a happy moment.
