Can you use 32bit plug-ins in Paintshop Pro 2022

Post by Cosmel »

Evening
I’ve recently purchased Paintshop Pro 2022 but would like use some very old 32bit plug-ins such as eye candy 4000.

I have installed the software in the plug-in folder of 2022. I have changed the file preferences to look at particular folder, but no joy.

Is this possible?

Thanks

Hi Cosmel and welcome to the forum.

Some 32-bit plugins work in the 32-bit version of PSP2022 and others do not. I don't have that version of Eye Candy to test it but I can tell you that Eye Candy 7 works just fine in PSP2022.

Cosmel -- hopefully you installed both the 32 and 64 bit versions of PSP 2022. You will recall when installation begins you are presented with the option to install only the 32 bit version, or the 64 bit version, or both.

You need to install both PSP versions: the 32 and the 64bit.
32bit plugins (but not all) will work with the 32bit version and 64bit plugins with the 64bit version.

Thanks for the welcome and information.

I initially downloaded a free trial version of 2022 ultimate then purchased the license to activate. I don’t recall an option to select 32bit and 64bit but I’ll look. I guess I’ll have to reinstall.

The news is welcome, because the plug-ins I’ve got don’t seem to have been fully replicated in the features in the modern versions.

I am enjoying 2022, and I can see the linage from my old and trusted Paintshop Pro 9 from 2005.

Thanks

Yes, the trial version is the 64 bit version. If you bought the licence, the email from Cleverbridge will let you download the new installation stub which in turn will probably first offer to uninstall the version you have if you haven't already used Control Panel > Programs and Features to remove it. Then you run it again, and this time it will offer those three options I mentioned above. Read them carefully. I seem to recall the dual 32/64 bit option is second, rather than first in the options offered.

Thanks very much. I’ll uninstall my copy, and reinstall the downloaded version off my email. See how we go! 👍

Good morning
My thanks, reinstalled 32bit and 64bit worked well with the older plug-ins. My only issue now is my store purchases “the ultimate creators bundle” hasn’t reappeared in my library.

I don't know if they do show up in your Library section. Those tend to be reserved for purchases made in-app.

If they are supposed to show up in your My Library section go to the menu at the top and select Help -> Restore Purchases. It'll ask for the email you bought the items under.

Otherwise, check your email again, they should provide direct downloads for anything that isn't in your Library.

Thanks I’ll try the restore purchases. The email refers to the bundle but has download links are for just particle shop and HDR studio. When I first installed, I found the rest of the purchases in the my library (in App Store) by accident while waiting for Corel support to respond (which they yet to do).

Thanks all for your advice and support.

How was the bundle downloaded and installed the first time round, then: as part of PSP? Do you store your downloaded apps anywhere? Have you checked there. I would have thought a bundle like that would normally come as a separate app with its own download link. If part of the PSP bundle, you'd think it would have installed when you reinstalled PSP in its two versions.

I can't get older plugins to work in psp 32 2022.
Every time I try one it shuts down psp.

Harry's Filters work, and so does Alien Skin (has to be installed, so guess that's why), and FiltersUnlimited works.

I just pointed my locations to the plugin folders in psp 2019 and that should be enough, right?

It depends on the plugin for one thing. Please be more specific about the plugins that don't work rather than the ones that do.
