Capture Difficulties.

Post by Eckhard »

Hi New Member here.

I just installed VS2021 and am trying to bring the old videos into the PC world and I am struggling with it. The setup is as follows.

The S-Video signal and the RCA audio signal are captured with an upscaler that does it's magic and outputs a HDMI signal. This signal is fed into a HDMI to USB 3 converter which feeds the PC. The signal is 1920 x1080, 60fps. More info to follow if needed.

I have tried to capture and record this video stream to VS directly but it will only record 8 minutes and 40 sec. +/-. Yes I tried it a few times. As I am a results oriented guy I started using OBS Studio to capture the stream and output it as an .mp4 which VS is able edit.

Side note, when I don't use the upscaler and try to capture a 720 x 480, 30 fps stream I can capture the whole 2 hours with VS.

Anyone have any suggestions as to what it would take to persuade VS to capture the stream?
