Mercalli 2.0 and Mercalli Pro

Post by mediaking9 »

I own legitimate copies of both Corel Video Studio Ultimate X10 and Corel Video Studio Ultimate 2021. I recently upgraded to the Ultimate 2021 version.

In X10, I used the Mercalli 2.0 plug-in without incident. I was able to split clips on my timeline using the Split Clip option, after which I applied the Mercalli 2.0 effect to each individually split clip. I only required re-analyzing a previous stabilized file if I shortened it or lengthened it.

Once I migrated over to 2021 recently, I tried using the Mercalli Pro effect and got the repeated ANALYZE prompt, fully discussed on this thread here: https://forum.corel.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=68816 Once a file was split using the Split Clip function (which doesn't actually create a new file), you are only able to apply the Mercalli Pro effect to one of the clips derived from the same master file. If you applied Mercalli Pro to more than one clips, you were asked to re-ANALYZE the previously analyzed clips.

This isn't very convenient, so I loaded up the Mercalli 2.0 plug-in from Corel VideoStudio X10 to use in the 2021 version. Mercalli 2.0 shows up and it analyzes the clip properly just like it did in X10. However, I now get the blue crosses across my corrected footage, as discussed in the thread here: https://forum.corel.com/viewtopic.php?p ... 5dc6caad3f The version of Mercalli 2.0 I have is shown as Mercalli 2.0.127 Tech. r79 In that other Mercalli 2.0 thread, a solution was proposed that eliminated the blue crosses. The user was asked to download a hot fix at this link which solved his problem: http://www.prodad.de/support/mercalli/m ... l64bit.exe That link no longer works.

I'd prefer to use the Mercalli Pro effect which comes with 2021, as I assume the Pro must be superior to the Mercalli 2.0. But if I'm going to have to save every split clip as another file, it'll be easier for me to keep using 2.0 -- if I can get a hot fix file to correct for the blue crosses. If there's a hot fix for Mercalli Pro that eliminates the need to save each individually split clip as a separate file, that would work, too. Better yet, hot fixes for both should I discover some bug in the future that prevents me from using one of them.

I'm sure I'm not the only user in this boat.

Can you help, Corel?

The blue cross normally indicates a proDAD license issue. However, as Mercalli V5.0.518.1 is available with VS2021, there is no reason to resolve this issue with Mercalli V2.0.127.

There is a hotfix for the Corel Video Studio 2021 Mercalli analyse issue (Analyse to be required again) at https://tinyurl.com/4ebmbu9c if applied, you'll get Mercalli V5.0.518.1.

You'll need to open a ticket with Corel Support if you want Corel's help as this is just a users' forum.

Thank you both for your prompt replies. Trevor's link to the thread with the hot fix contained the Mercalli Pro fix that solved my problem. For reference to anyone reading this thread, the link is: https://corelcorporation-my.sharepoint. ... alli%20fix Tletter's encapsulated link https://tinyurl.com/4ebmbu9c link required me to login to Corel's My Sharepoint, and when I tried using my Microsoft accounts, I was rejected. NO login required with the longer corelcorporation-my.sharepoint.com link.

I love these forums! The people here so helpful. Glad to be on board.

However, as tletter noted, I won't be requiring Mercalli 2.0 now that I got Mercalli Pro working soundly, so the blue crosses showing up are not something I need to solve. I am curious though -- from a purely intellectual perspective -- why Mercalli 2.0 didn't work with VideoStudio Ultimate 2021. I had ProDad and Mercalli 2.0 on my computer from my X10 installation. I have a valid license for these. When I removed X10 from my system after installing VideoStudio 2021, I kept Boris Graffiti and Mercalli 2.0 intact. Boris works fine. Why would Mercalli 2.0 fail?

And, since I gather you have more experience with these plug-ins than I, can you tell me the real time differences you've noted between Mercalli Pro and Mercalli RT (the real time stabllization). I'm assuming Pro is better, but is it? Are there situations in your experience where you'd opt to use RT over Pro?

Mercalli 2.0 and Mercalli Pro appear to be similar pieces of software, with Pro being the newer version. In your opinion, what are Pro's noticeable improvements over 2.0?

Hi, how do I confirm my version of Mercalli Pro is up to date? I couldn't see anyway of checking in VS2021.
