The impact of uninstall on plug-ins depends on the method of uninstall you use. The plug-ins are separately listed in 'programs and features' (eg, proDad, New blue et al) and there they stay with a conventional windows uninstall (click on the Vs version in P&F, rt click and then choose uninstall). That works but leaves quite a lot of leftovers/ mess in the system and registry. Using the Corel CVS version cleanup tool uninstalls everything, including the plugins that go with that version, and any other items that were in the original Corel install file and adjusts the registry.

If you have malfunctioning software, then the usual solution is to use the clean-up tool, because a windows uninstall often does not fix any related problem that exists in the registry.

But there are other causes too, that re-installs generally don't fix:
- video drivers: you may need an updated version, or a recently updated version may be the problem. See personal example cited next item.
- CVS and hardware interaction: hardware acceleration either on or off has a history of issues that are hard to pin down because of the variables across manufacturers designs, memory and chipsets. Often in this case it's trial and error: select acceleration on or off (as the case may be) and repeat the failing function to isolate a cause. (personal example: rendering with acceleration failed, without acceleration worked. Had the same problem with Power Director, which clearly suggested an issue with the hardware not the software. Lots of work with Intel, who were cooperative, isolated it to a bug in the system graphics driver - which due to age Intel would not fix. So I am stuck with no hardware acceleration options, and workarounds like short clips to minimise any consequences)
