My latest attempt at burning to disk brought a new surprise. Now, the media (m2t file) plays at twice the speed as intended. Both the sound and the movie play very fast in the Preview section of the burn module. When i play the m2t file in a media player, it plays fine. but in the preview pane, its very fast. Honestly, this is getting ridiculous.

Attached is a screen shot of the m2t video propertied.

I'm at a complete loss. I can easily create (burn) a file that can be viewed on a computer, phone, tablet or TV (using a thumb drive) but not a Blu-Ray or DVD disk.

Any help you can offer will be greatly appreciated.

The playback speed may be a problem with the project properties and the video files you are using, although i do not understand why that should happen.
Your image shows you burning a standard DVD yet using m2ts video files which are bluray types.
The 1920 ×1080 video will be converted to 720 x 480.

You need to close the burner module to return to the timelines then look at the project properties, they should be the same as the video properties, the timelines should be empty

Then Share Disc choosing Bluray, do you have that option
Do you have a bluray burner and bluray discs or only DVD

Post updated

Just read your earlier posts again and yes you do have a bluray option, also appear to have a DVD and Bluray burner. In error you have chosen DVD not Bluray???
Ok
From the timelines, start a new project then insert the 2020 Videos.m2ts file, you should be prompted to match the project properties, yes to that.
Now remove that video, with the timelines empty go Share Disc-Bluray, this opens the burner module, add your video here.
Does that improve things.

Hi Trevor and thank you again for your assistance. I have been trying everything to the point that my head is spinning. The interesting aspect of the playback speed is that the speed is normal on my computer when using any media player. It is also normal when i put the video on a thumb drive and play it on my BluRay player through the USB port. The video speed is only fast when playing back using the "Preview" screen of the VS burn module.

I will try the latest suggestion and get back.

Thanks again for your help.

I just followed your newest suggestion and was not asked if i wanted to match the properties. This tells me the properties are already the same??

I followed the procedure and the result is the same. The speed is fast when using the Preview option. Something else that is odd -- the burn module flickers twice while the m2t file is being inserted. It only started doing this when the speed problem surfaced.

I think i need to uninstall and reinstall VS2021. I have nothing to loose. Something is not right with this installation.

1) Uninstall the VS software.
2) Run the Corel Cleanup Tool for VS2021
3) Reinstall the VS2021 software. I saved the .exe file on y hard drive.
4) Figure out how to check for updates -- if any -- and install them.

My questions now are:
1) What about the Templates and Overlays Pack that accompanied the VS2021 software? I saved all of the *.exe files on my hard drive. Will these .exe files need to go on-line for any reason and if so, will i run into any complications?
2) Are there any files i need to manually delete before reinstalling?
3) I paid (twice) for the ability to burn a Bluray. Will i have to buy it again after i reinstall?

Before you continue, as adding the video did not Show Messages, what are the actual Project Properties, and is the option to show messages selected via preferences

1/ I assume the templates pack were free whet purchasing the program, you may have to install these again although I would wait till you have retested the burner process
2 / there may be files leftover after uninstalling, I doubt deleting those will make any difference to the new installation, using the cleanup tool should be sufficient.
3/ There is an option to Restore Purchases, this should allow you to add the Bluray plugin without any further cost.

Well i have good news. I believe i found the problem with rendering an ISO and/or DVD or Blu-ray. I think the problem was a corrupt file i created called "Intro.m2t". The intro.m2t file is similar to the MGM lion. Anyway, following many ideas and places to look from the expert advice i found on this forum, i decided to try and render an ISO without the Intro.m2t file and it worked!! So, i recreated the Intro.m2t file, built another multi-chapter video and burned it to an ISO and it worked. I then burned the ISO to a Blu-ray using the tool in VS.

All that said, i do believe i still have an issue with VLC Media Viewer. When i view an ISO with VLC, the video if very small in the window -- like 1/4 the size of the window. However, when i view the video in my TV, through my Blu-ray player, the images are as they should be. So, my next move will be to uninstall and reinstall VLC.

Meantime, i want to thank you, Ken and lata, for your expert advise. However, i wish i was more in-tune and forthcoming with the poor information i gave you to work with  . But, you two taught me enough to point me in the right direction and i was able to identify my issue.

Thanks again!!

Just thinking out loud
If the video resolution sets the playback size for VLC, If the "intro" video is of a smaller resolution would that affect VLC

That's a very good question. The videos all play perfectly through the Blu-ray player to my TV. Something with VLC is causing the videos to play very small. When i get time, ill uninstall and reinstall VLC and let you know what happens.

It seems to me that i may have discovered an area in which Corel Programmers could focus some attention. We (you, me and Ken B.) spent a lot of time working through my issues, not to mention the time i spent reading previous posts dating back to 2015 from both you and Ken. It seems VS has had, and still has, many rendering issues that may be able to get resolved with some attention from Corel. It should not be as difficult as it is -- IMHO. But I'm glad you and Ken both volunteer your time helping guys like me acclimate themselves to this very complex software. Thank you!

Well, i have some good information and some bad information regarding my OP. The good information is: My wife and i took a cruise where i gathered many pictures and videos. I then used the the images to create a movie. Actually, 8 movies - 1 for each day of the cruise and one as my Intro. I followed all the instructions and lessons i learned from previous experience and from this forum to successfully create a blue-ray disk of our cruise, including a fully functional, multi-page, professional looking menu. Also, while working to burn an ISO of my video, i came to the conclusion that the VLC player had some issues as my video played as a 6"x6" square in the center of my rather large monitor. Weird. So, i went ahead and uninstalled VLC, downloaded and installed the current version of VLC, which played my video perfectly. The exact cause of VLC malfunction is unknown. But its now working. Life is good.

The bad information is: The "Playback" function within the VS Blu-Ray module would not play my video at normal speed. It played at about 1.5X (?) the normal speed. Also very weird. I did mention, however, in a previous post, that i considered a full uninstall and reinstall of VS. As it turns out, I never followed through idea.

Back to my OP -- "Way too many errors during repair" -- i have yet to learn why i received so many errors while trying to repair a suspected corruption within my VS installation, and i suppose i never will. Does that matter now? No, not at all.

I just wanted to post a final update on this post.

Just reading this was interesting, a learning experience. But the issue re the repair led me to comment . .
I install VS using a custom install: the software on a non-C drive location (actually, G, which is a totally separate hard drive). And on several occasions I've tried to use the repair option in the installer, without any success at all: error messages, or once a jammed app. Since a repair is basically a means of selectively replacing/reinstalling a program that fails a checksum test of some sort, a repair is just a short form installation activity. Given the repair failed several times, thereafter I just went direct uninstall/reinstall the whole suite. Some users did not have that sort of experience and AFAIK they use a default installation, so I came to think of repair issues as related to the type of installation the VS software had.
So, do you use a default install, or a custom one?

My install is the default installation. In fact, if memory serves, i installed (Upgrade) VS2021 before uninstalling VS2020. And, this is my first attempt at creating a Bluray using VS2021. So, perhaps the uninstall should have taken place first so as to avoid uninstalling a critical file that was shared with the previous installation??? Maybe??

Installing from the oldest version to the newest one is the safer way to have functionality.

You should be able to uninstall an older version, without impacting a newer one that exists. Except perhaps with Ultimate and the prodad plugins.
It's been reasonably documented (here and elsewhere) that there's only one plugin of each brand (eg, prodad) per PC no matter how many VS versions are installed. And in that respect it's an efficient use of resource. However, if you uninstall one version with all it's plugins, there's a cross-over impact on the other versions that use those plugins, and that's been particularly noted for prodad. For example, uninstalling 2020 ultimate would remove the prodad plugins for 2021 and any other version. Fixing that is easy enough - once you know it's happened. Just go into the the extracted download files of the remaining VS version for bonus features, and run the setup.exe file as a standalone action. Once that's done, the plug-ins should again be showing in the version filter list.

This issue with plug-ins and multiple VS installs has been drawn to Corel's attention any number of times over recent years but there hasn't been any action to fix it.

I think you may have hit the nail on the proverbial head. My original version of VS is "Ultimate" and i remember when i purchased it that there were a whole bunch of "add-ons" that were included. However, in my inexperience with the program, i may have removed them with the uninstall. Im going to dig further into this when time permits. Thanks, David, for your help.
