No audio fading

Post by Antois »

Hello. I have a strange problem with VideoStudio.
Often when I select audio > fade out there is no fade-out taking place. Then when I open the sound mixer the graphic shows that there is a fade-out and surprisingly the fade-out is there in the sound too. Then when I close the sound mixer the fade has gone and cannot be heard anymore.
Sometimes the audio fade-out option works but more often it does not work. I cannot yet figure out when it works and when it doesn't. Example: I have a song at the Music Track. I trim the song and check the option audio fade-out. Result: no fading out.
Very annoying that the programme reacts so unreliably. Maybe someone recognises this problem and knows the cause and a solution.

If you have selected "Clip" in the navigation area, the the fade out is not played, if you have selected "Project" the fade out is played.

Perhaps relevant is that there is both a 'video fade out' and an 'audio fade out'. The former fade out doesn't affect the audio.

If you set the audio levels from within the Sound Mixer the results can only be heard in Project Playback.
In fact setting the volume level slider via Sound Mixer has to be in Project we cannot set levels with the clip selected.

Close Sound Mixer and fade levels are now applied to the clip not the project, and will be heard in Clip and Project playback.

For Video Fades, here the actual video fades in not the audio, Video should be on an overlay track to see the fade.

Yes it can be confusing. Sound Mixer = Project

Thanks for your reactions.
I know the difference between the audio and the video fading and also that applied audio fades can only be heard in the Project mode and not in the Fragment mode. The problem is that some applied audio fades cannot be heard in any mode. The fade out option has been checked and is yet not audible in both modes. If I then open the Audio Mixer to see if there is a visible fade out there is indeed a visible fade out and it can be heard too. But when I close the Mixer the fade out has gone. So I cannot save the audio fade out into the Project. I have a workout by fading the audiofile in a different program (GoldWave) and puttting it back at the Timeline.
It must be a bug in the Corel software, because several times when I open the Audio Mixer after not fading audio the program crashes after a few seconds.

I like Video Studio because it's a relative cheap video editor with enough possibilities for me but it's a small disaster when editing the added audio tracks especially because I use it frequently. Corel should not launch a new edition every year however instead improve the existing version. I never receive an update for the purchased programs.
