copy protection issues

Post by Mark Swanson »

OK... So I bought VS 2021 in December, and because of computer issues I have to junk that machine and install the software on a better machine, but it won't let me, ,telling me that the software is installed on another machine. I understand WHY this had to be put in place, but I own a license. How can I get them to let me install? I can't reach anyone at the company. I am sure others have run into this but I couldn't find any discussions dealing with it... help, please. I really HATE that new part of the installer.

That should not happen, you would have been asked to input your email address, ensure you use the same address that you used to register VS, then installation would proceed as normal.
If you still have issues, contact Support, explain what has happened and ask for your account to be reset

Yes, that is exactly what happens- I am asked to "confirm my email address", and when I do it tells me the program has been installed on another computer and I should consult the EULA.

1. Log into your Corel account. If in English it is at:

https://www.corel.com/en/

2. On the Your Account window, under the Your products area (on the right), click the text link Product Status and Subscriptions - it takes you to the Your Product Status window.

3. On the Your Product Status window find the Installations line - click on the number, the Manage machines registered to this Upgrade Program or subscription window opens.

3. In the list of computers, select (check) the box next to the "old" computer that your program is registered to then click on Remove selected machines.

4. You can now register your new installation on your new machine.

Thank you, I tried this suggestion, and I think it would work BUT when I get to my "Product status and subscriptions" window, all it shows is one of the Corel programs I own, Paintshop Pro! VideoStudio is not shown at all, only Paintshop.

Mark
Are you sure you are using the same e-mail address as the one used to purchase the program which should be the same as the one used to register the program for the first time you installed Video Studio.

Did you receive an email acknowledgment from Corel giving you a case number, you should have received that almost immediately

Yes, I did get that email. I opened up a "ticket" and received that email with a case number. That's it.

Mark
I mentioned in an earlier reply that I had contacted Corel Support
I received a reply asking that you make sure you are using the same e-mail address as originally used to install Video Studio.
My thought, If there was a typo when doing that will contribute to this problem.

Do you still have access to the old pc, if yes running the installer will show the registration details allowing you to check the e-mail.
If you are unable to do that then you should pursue your ticket, maybe using the Chat lines will be the quickest route,
I believe Corel will have to provide you with a new serial number although they will request proof of purchase to do that, at least that’s my thoughts.

Just have to say that I have installed VS 2021 on 2 computers in order to test, with no registration problems.
The EULA of course only allows us to install on one machine, unless the original pc is faulty.
