videostudio 2019 wont open

Post by jukka »

videostudio 2019 pro won't open all of the sudden.

I have windows updated disabled, only thing I've updated is java runtime

it shows splash screen, then opens the main ui frame (no content in the libraries) closes the main ui and then after 30 second or so closes the loading screen also.

windows 10, 32GB ram, amd ryzen

I absolutely dd not want to reinstalla or reset my application or profile because i have a ton of templates like texts and clips in the profile that would take weeks to recreate

Sorry you are having problems running 2019
I have looked through my installation files for any hot fixes unfortunately do not find any.
The file uvDV.dll seems to be part of the library, if I am reading the properties – details correctly, would suggest a corrupt library or content.
Unfortunately I do not know of any way to correct this other than a Reset or a Re-installation of the program.
Manual efforts can be difficult and do not always prove successful.

Reset
There is a folder that can be used to re-set the program, simply rename the 22.0 folder to “22.0_old”
C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro (x64)
Trying to run Video Studio will create a new 22.0 folder, does Video Studio run, your library will be empty as the default installation.

Re-naming the “22.0_old” folder back to 22.0 will revert the program, again probably will not start, back to square one.

Assuming VS did run -- At this point you can try re-naming individual files from the original 22.0 folder, first make sure you have “22.0_old” securely backed up.
To the bottom of the listing are files similar names to VS_MediaLib_Video.dat and VS_Video.dat
Try those first.

Recent installations of Video Studio have used a VideoStudioDatabase.db file, I believe this may be replacing the VS_MediaLib_Video.dat type files, if so and this .db is corrupt then I do not see any other way than to re-install your program.

If you choose to re-install keep the “22.0_Old” folder, maybe you can rebuild your library.

Usually I have had to follwo the advice from the pro users here and delete my library folders (move them to another drive) and re-install.

So, the other day, had an install related issue and since I have an overpowered machine I installed VS2021 into a VM, yes it ran fine and did what I wanted - proved that my installer binary was not toast and that the edits I wanted to do were not the problem. If that works, at least you might learn how to later import your libraries by making VM snapshots and messing about with importing.

I moved the profile to another directory.
uninstalled and reinstalled. Did not work.
Then i see this topic
https://forum.corel.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=68889

and when renaming uvDV.dll in program files / core / corel videostudio2019

the program now opens.

This is very strange because i have had all the windows updates disabled.

Copied back the old 22.0 folder in C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro (x64)
and seems that my libraries in edit tab are intact. pfew

no points for corel
