v8 beta crash with transparency?

Post by v2to8 »

1. I put a 50 frame Targa UIS on the timeline.
2. Add a transparency overlay of 50%.
3. Scrub the timeline over the UIS - v8 crashes.

The crash does not occur if I click on another clip on the timeline (so the effects window for the UIS is not shown) and then scrub the timeline. It also does not crash if I click back onto the UIS so the overlay is again shown in the effects manager window.

In short, v8 crashes when I scrub the timeline if I have just added transparency to the UIS and have not clicked onto another clip.

Can anyone else verify this? Thx.

Same Problem for me

v2to8,

I just fired off a problem to Tech Support on the same issue. Doesn't seem to matter what kind of file it is for me. I create :30 and :60 second TV commercials and scrubbing is not a feature I can use realiably without a crash.

Since I preview what I work on frequently, I am often finding that MSP8 isn't ready to work when I am.

P4 2.8g

100g SATA HD (OS and Applications)
2g PC3200 DDR 400mhz RAM
ATI Radeon 9800 All-In-Wonder
Panasonic AG-DVC60 ProLine Camera

Let me know if you find a patch or workaround.

Thanks,

The public beta (which is no longer available) was NOT the release version, which I think is about 8 builds later. However, I thought it was time-bombed to the end of September, so I don't know whether it is even functional, now.

I suggest you try the trial version that is currently available, but watch my lips very carefully: Uninstall the beta version. Search your computer for anything containing MSP8, 8.0 and your program directory and delete them. Only then install the trial version.

Let us know whether this resolves the situation.

Getting a bit more specific than Devil on the uninstallation;

MAKE SURE that you delete the MSP8 folder in;

C:\Documents and Settings\(username)\applicaiton data\ulead systems\
