Problems when opening Component Designer in PI XL

Post by BurgerKing »

I'm using PI XL and when i'm opening Component Designer or Background Designer i get a error.

Details....
AppName: iedit.exe AppVer: 8.5.0.2 ModName: iedit.exe
ModVer: 8.5.0.2 Offset: 00187237

And error #2
PhotoImpact: Iedit.exe - Application Error
The instruction at "0x73dd11c7" referenced memory at "0x00000004". The memory could not be "read".

I'm using Win XP Pro with all the lastest patches. Before XL i had Version 7 and i never had a problem.

Anybody an idea???

Thanks....

1) If I try to open component designer, PI crashes. But if I open a blank document first...then it will open without a crash

2) If I resize the component, I get a message "Failed to render
[3300:2:193]"

I have applied the update Patch2 "upixlpatch_e.exe 10,408kb" and still the
problem happens.

I have been getting the usual "Uninstall Install" approach from tech support every day this week!!!
I also have PI 5 installed and have no problem with component designer at all.
Sorry to see that I'm not the only one fighting with this problem!
Can anybody help?
Pi XL on XP Pro SP1

Thank You...Tim

After 3 weeks of dealing with ulead tech support and getting no fix to the reason why the update patch will not work or install, and no help here either, I have come to the conclusion that PhotoImpact is crap!

More reasons why....
PI 4....u32comm.dll causes crash upon opening.

PI 5....have 6 disks shipped from ulead that will not install because of Invalid CD key#s.

PI XL...Component Designer bugs...Preview will not work in some tools...when using Save As and make a new folder and click Open, the file is saved to a previous folder and a few other minor stupid bugs.

Does everybody know that tech support is now only out of Taiwan...no more support in the USA!!!

I have had enough with ulead...no more...going back to PhotoShop and Paint Shop Pro...where customer service and product quality is very important. I have never had problems with them!!!

Just an update...it's been over a month now, still NO FREAKIN HELP from tech support from Taiwan.
Let this be a warning to all you future USA buyers of ulead products!!!
