Once VS9 has been installed, these are normally stored in a folder named vft_plug and each filter has an individual file extension of .vft (average.vft, balance.vft, etc...).

For starters you might check your VS9 directory (typical path) C > Program Files > Ulead Systems > Ulead VideoStudio 9.0 > vft_plug and make sure they are installed. If you don't see them, try a Windows wildcard search on *.vft and see if they were installed in a different location. If the search doesn't find anything it most likely means they are not installed.

In that case, I would consider a full uninstall of VS9. After the uninstall, reboot and manually check to make sure the Ulead VideoStudio 9.0 directory and all of it's contents were removed. If not, delete the folder. Next, reinstall VS9 from scratch, reboot, launch VS9 and check to see if your filters are OK.

Hmmmm... VS9 should make the association to your vft_plug folder by default. Unfortunately I don't know of any hidden procedures but many of the video software publishers offer a tool that deletes all related registry entries, giving you the opportunity to perform a true "clean" install. You might try posting a new topic to see if anyone knows if Ulead offers a utility of that type. If not, tech-support might be able to help you manually delete the regestry items although I'd imagine it would be quite a task. I wish I could be of more help but that's all that comes to mind so far.

If you have a boxed version that came with a CD instead of the ESD (Electronic Software Download) version, you can use Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs -> Videostudio -> Change/Remove -> Repair.

I had a similar problem, seem to happen after I applied the patches for VS9. I was able to correct it by only reinstalling VS9 content packs (normally saved to the "C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio 9.0\SmartDownload" directory). Note that when you reinstall, any video & sound clips etc stored in the general libraries are blown away.

Hope this helps... regards John. :D

Same problem here...fileters availabe and used...then vanished.
re-install...no effect, can see the filters in the vft_plug directory.

I did not install new software between the time when filters did work
and now when they dont.

Hi

Read this posting re:- video filters

http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic. ... ht=filters

I have found a solution on my own:

From an XP user profile that works correctly, look for the file Vfilter.rsf located in C:\Documents and Settings\USERXX\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio\9.0 or the location specific to your system, and copy it to the correspondent location of your XP profile, C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR-USER-NAME\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio\9.0

Thats all you need, remember to make a backup of the original file in case it do not work in your system.

Thanks Trevor,

your suggestion about the vfilter.rsf file has fixed this problem for me.
