Using with Windows 7 Professional

Post by George_G »

Yes, Paintshop Pro Ultimate works fine with Windows 7 Professional SP1 64bit. Is there a way to stop the Warning panel from reminding me I'm still using Windows 7 and the program may not work correctly even though it does? Any help appreciated.

Sorry, forgot that part - I upgraded to the newest version PaintShop Pro 2022 Ultimate 24.1.0.27 x64. Prior versions didn't complain but maybe with the latest, Corel has not certified stable operation with Windows 7 Pro SP1 even though it seems to be operating just fine. Any ideas appreciated.

Perhaps asking Corel to remove or make an option in the parameters...

Sorry, I don't understand the question about 'online'. It's the OS on my desktop computer - Windows 7 Professional, 64 bit, SP1 + all updates.

I'm wondering if there's a Regedit option to silence the nag screen. I'm fully aware Corel isn't supporting Windows 7 64 bit anymore but to remind me every time I start the program is a bit annoying. Anyone know of a hack to disable the nag screen? Thanks.

Do you use a Windows 7 Pro OS on the internet? Be glad that you are getting that "nag". It is reminding you that Windows 7 is no longer supported and is unsafe to use on the internet, so the security updates that you have received are very outdated.

This nonsense. If you have an antivirus program you risk the same with Windows 10 or 11.

That's not accurate. Viruses aren't the only risk, active security holes that don't match current known viruses are still being found and exploited so even with a anti-virus if those holes aren't being patched they remain wide open. Your risk profile may be similar in some respects, but in others it's way worse now that end of life has passed. So long as you understand the risks and take appropriate precautions it's not a huge deal. But the risk is not the same.

However, the nag screen mentioned sounds specific to PSP. So the nag isn't about Windows security, it's about PSP not actively targeting the OS to ensure compatibility. If things go wrong they won't support it as they can't prove it's not because of Windows 7. And you really only need to be told once if at all.

I don't know of any registry key for this. Nothing pops-out at me. So it's probably built-in. Ask Corel. They may not support your OS but maybe they'll have some insight.
