Unable to add audio files VS21 Ultimate

Post by si2belldart »

Hi

I have recently upgraded to VS21 from VS18. I have never had a problem adding audio files to VS18 but am getting the following error message when trying to add audio files in VS21. ' These files cannot be added to this project. These files maybe of unknown file format, the computer does not have enough memory or the file is copyright protected'. The file format is mp3, hardly a rare or unknown format. The file maybe copyright protected I dont know but it didnt stop me using it in VS 18 and I am only using it for my own purposes not to broadcast to any one else. The PC has 175GB of free memory so this shouldnt be an issue. Has anyone else had this issue. Any help would be appreciated.

Many thanks

Simon

The audio wouldn't happen to be Dolby 5.1 would it? For some silly reason Corel for the last couple of versions of VS have dropped support for Dolby 5.1 on Windows 10 computers. They should still accept Dolby dual channel stereo, however, which makes the situation even sillier. It could be worse, however, since users of Windows 7 cannot even insert Dolby dual channel stereo!

Hi Ken

Thanks for the reply. Its a standard music mp3 track something which I was able to insert into VS 18 without any problem. I have also tried a wav file just in case but still the same error message.

As a footnote to that reply I have kept VS 18 on the PC as if I had issues with VS21 (like the present one) it would allow me to go back to VS18. Not sure if that has caused the issue but I didnt want to remove it in csse I need it again.
