There's a post at the top of this forum that might offer some hints (if you haven't already read it).

How are you connecting your camcorder to your computer (provide as much info as possible).

Thanks George for your quick reply. Would you happen to have a direct url link to the post you are refering to in your previous reply by chance?

i am connecting with USB 2.0. I can actually capture video with an other software called stoik video capture. I can not capture only with ulead VS 9.0 with the exact same configuration, so i am wondering why as i would like to use only one tool to capture and edit.

Thanks

Hi Malik,

It is the very first post in this forum -- it is an Announcement

Does your camcorder have the ability to transfer the DV .avi via USB2 :?:

Are you transferring video that was shot on tape, or to memory card?

Do you have a firewire port on your computer (and firewire cable) -- that would allow you to transfer the video as it was recorded to dv tape.

Hi George,

ok i read the announcememt, but this did not help for my specific issue.

My camcorder has the ability to transfer the DV .avi via USB2

I am transferring video that was shot on tape.

I do not have a firewire port on my computer. i want to believe it is possible directly with USB2.0 .

Again, i can capture with stoick software, but not with Ulead so that makes me think it is a Ulead related problem. It is also possible to stream directly (start->control pannel->scanner and camera).

Thanks.

Malik.

if your camcorder has the ability to transfer the full-resolution dv via usb2, then it should have come with some software to allow for this functionality. I would use that software (or the one that you can currently use) -- then just import the resulting videos into your VS9 project.

I don't believe VS9 (or alot of other software) can currently utilize the USB2 transfer of dv .avi video -- it's a relatively new feature, and camcorders that can do it usually ship with software that has been setup to do the transfer.

Some how i was able to capture the video with no problem the first time i used the product. Since that time i receive the following errors:

UNABLE TO SWITCH TO CAPTURE MODE
CHECK IF YOU VIDEO CATURE DRIVER IS WORKING PROPERLY
FAILED TO BUILD A PREVIEW CAPTURE
15001:33:1
15023:4:2

Tech support just told me to delete the temp files, delete the product, reinstall, and apply the service pack which i did with the same resul

Format is DV and i'm connected through a firewire card

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Hi Malik

I have a similar model of camcorder (NVGS75) and after a couple of weeks trying have been unable to capture directly into VS9 using the USB cable with exactly the same error message as you are seeing. Either use the Motion Studio software that came with the camcorder to capture via USB, or buy a DV cable. The latter works fine in VS9.

Tim
