Help needed for TV files in UK

Post by Barryworth »

I have used Cyberlink Studio for a few years now but an offer for Video Studio 2021 was too tempting (That and my Cyberlink program is getting on a bit!)
I have just produced my first video on VS but can not find a suitable file format to display on a television (PAL if it makes a difference)
In Cyberlink I used one of the following
XAVC 1929*1080 - 25p 17mbps
AVC 1280*720 -24p 16 mbps
AVC 1920*1080 -24p 16mbps
All the above formats work fine with the 4 televisions I need to display on.

I have tried the following on VS, none of which work
MPEG-4 HEVC 1920*1080- 50p 20mbps
MPEG -4 AVC 1280*720 -25p 10 mbps.
AVC 1920*1080 - 25p 20mbps

Have not been able to find any information on this, either in Corel's help or instructions.
Can anyone tell me what I am not seeing or point me in the right direction please?

Barryworth
welcome to the forums

What type of video files are they, MP4 or maybe M2t, Mpeg2 are also suitable for most tv playback,
What your tv accepts really depends on the TV.

From Video Studio, right click one of your original video clips for Properties, what are they?
Create an image of that panel to attach to your post.

OK
Video Studio has a Movie Profile Manager via Settings
Choose the Format, I assume either MP4 or AVC/H.264
Then the Add option allows us to browse for a video file, select one of your video files.
The properties will then be used to create a new profile, give it a meaningful name. I usually add MY to the beginning of the name.
When you do Share the new profile will be available under the appropriate format, named My********something or other
This should render to the same settings as your original files.

Thanks Trevor, for your quick reply and the welcome.

All of my saved files are always MP4.

Properties for one of the clips I am using is
properties.png
The files used come from different sources and with different properties.

I am going to produce a file with the settings you suggested and see if it comes out.

Of course your final video should really reflect the original video properties
I have a Panasonic camcorder that records to MTS, so I would create similar motion transport format as M2t, one of my tv’s played that whereas the other only played the file when I renamed the extension to use MPG.
But MP4 h.264 is probably the widest used format and should work for you.

Thanks again Trevor

Having tried a couple of different settings just about all of them worked on the televisions at my work place.
I think something is telling me that I need to get a new TV for home

Your TV user guide should indicate which video formats it supports, I would expect Mpeg4 and Mpeg2, the latter being DVD compatible, I would expect those tp play.
