No Audio on burned DVD

Post by mej911 »

When playing back MPEG-2 DVD's burned in Video Studio, the video displays with no Audio. The audio plays at all stages of the creation of the DVD file, but does not play on the final DVD. I have changed various setting in the creation process as well as burning from an iso file and tried playing back on a DVD player as well as computer DVD.

To determine it's not user error in the authoring process, make a compliant DVD-VIDEO MPEG-2 file in CVS and then import file into free software like DVDStyler to burn DVD. Match file properties and it will not re-encode. It will also create ISO and DVD Folders for use with your devoted burning software. Test and if it plays correctly, then something is awry in CVS.

I am wondering if the audio was Dolby 5.1. For some totally unknown and silly reason, Corel have dropped Dolby. For people still using Win 7, it has dropped it totally, while for users of Win 10, it has dropped 5.1 but still supports dual channel stereo Dolby. But if your audio was Dolby 5.1, it might play in preview since your computer still has the Dolby codecs, but VS would not be able to burn it to disc...

Similar reply as rwernyei but using Video Studio

1 / Render the project using Share Mpeg2, this file should be max 4.3 Gb to fit to disc.
2 / Play the resultant file to check quality and of course audio
IF ok
3 / start a new project – insert the Mpeg2 to the timeline, you should see a message to match the video files setting, yes to that sets the project
4 / Remove the Mpeg2 from the timeline
5 / with an empty timeline Share Disc – DVD
6 / the burner module opens, here we add the Mpeg2 using the links top left for Insert Video
7 / set the menu, if you are intending to use a menu
8 / on the final page choose to “Create a Dics Image” this will create ISO, effectively a copy of a disc.
The process should start with Create Menu, Create Title should not show as you are working with a DVD compliant video

9 / use VLC Media Player to play the iso to check quality
If ok
10 / Use Video Studio – Tools – Burn from Disc Image (ISO)

Thank you all for your responses. The sounds on the video comes from cell phone videos and a microphone recorded directly into CVS, so I don't believe they are Dolby 5.1. For the other solutions, I assume I would just burn from the iso file using the different program after following through the other instructions.
Thanks

It may not be Dolby 5.1 coming in, but what are the Properties being used for the DVD output? The video has to be mpeg-2 for that, and often the DVD template is set to use Dolby for the audio unless you change it to, say, standard LPCM.

Thanks all. it finally worked. Unfortunately, I'm not sure which step fixed it because I used the Dolby change and a free DVD burning program at the same time, so some additional experimentation needed.
Just as an aside, the DVD styler program wanted me to purchase in order to not place their logo on each frame, so i used a different "free" program.

Sorry mej911 you have to be careful and not click on any of the ad links on that webpage or it will try to re-direct you to Wondershare DVD Creator advertised as DVDStyler. DVDStyler is free. It is a great program. Here's the direct link: https://sourceforge.net/projects/dvdsty ... t/download
