I've searched all over for something related to this and maybe it's easy, but I've spent 2 days playing around and trying different things without any luck.
Basically, I am motovlogging. I have 2 GoPros and a Tascam DR-05 for audio. A GoPro 10 facing out on my helmet and a GoPro 9 facing me on the handle bars. I have a mic in my helmet for the Tascam DR-05, another one in the helmet for GoPro 10 facing out and a third mic on the GoPro 9 mounted on the handle bars to pick up engine sound.
The GoPro 10 sound quality in the helmet is subpar, which is why I use the Tascam in the helmet as the main audio source. My intention is to use the mic handle bar GoPro to pick up the sound of the engine.
I can put both GoPro video clips and the Tascam audio clip in multi cam editing and sync them without any issues. I then do my multi cam editing, save it, and drop it on my timeline. No problem, great sound, great video. But... here is my issue.
I want to somehow separate out that GoPro 9 audio on my handle bars with the engine sound to raise it up at points when I get on the throttle and am not talking. In essence, I want to end up with both the handle bar audio and the main Tascam audio on the timeline and be able to raise and lower each one as needed. I know I can use audio ducking, but I need to get those 2 synced files on the timeline first. That's the part that is alluding me.
I would be eternally grateful for any help in resolving my dilemma.

Re: Split audio files for multi cam editing
Suggest that you first add your video clips to the video and overlay tracks and then sync them up. Once synchronized, you can either use the split audio feature to move the audio down to the audio tracks (split audio will actually move the audio onto the voice track so then move it down to a music track), or simply copy the synced video tracks onto music tracks and then mute the video clips. Either way, once done, you can edit the audio tracks as required.TheCoastMan wrote: I know I can use audio ducking, but I need to get those 2 synced files on the timeline first. You may find better audio editing if you use Audacity for sound editing.
