How to set best quality of project in VS2020?

Post by steve13 »

Settings in output files in "share" section in VS2020 are very unsatisfactory. Max 4k resolution, 65Mbps.
The only way to increase quality is to use option "same as first video file". My files are 4k, 100Mbps, audio AAC 192kbps.
Video quality is OK, but audio with192kbps after rendering loses quality,

Is there a way to convert first video file in project to increase audio to 320kbps? What program should I use?

Or maybe I can download any (short empty black) video file with properties: h.264 high profile 4K 100Mbps, 2ch audio 48kgz 320kbps
to force these settings in a project?

You're best to let VS match the properties of your source clips. However, if your source clips have audio at 192kbps, it's unclear why you'd render at 320kbps.

In any event, you could add a clip at the start of your VSP with the properties that you want and then use the "Same as First Video Clip" and the "Create Preview Range Only" to avoid rendering the clip that you added at the start of the VSP.

I only use video track from my cameras in the project, audio from camera (192kbps) is muted.
Audio track in the project is added from microphone records or audio files (mp3 320kbps or .wav).

Because first video file has audio properties 192kbps, the whole project is downgraded to 192kbps.
My question is how to maintain 320kbps audio quality while preserving video quality at 100Mbps

Don't know why, but VS forbids to set manually desired audio and video quality. In custom settings for video max is 65Mbps, but if you choose "same as first video file" you will get video quality 100Mbps, but you can't modify audio quality which is determined by first file (192kbps)

I thought to find and download a very short MP4 file with desired specification (100Mbpps for video, 320kbps for audio) to force these settings but I can't find any file to download
Or maybe you can suggest different solutions?

There are various clips on YT that purport to include 320Kbps audio at 4K, e.g https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=53tdYmJuUmM. You'd have to check the bitrate of such clips.

If VS won't work for you, then you could render the video in VS and then combine the video with your 320Kbps audio in another NLE, such as Virtualdub, assuming that your PC has the required codec installed.
