VideoStudio2021

Post by Midykm »

Hi,
I’m a new user on this forum, and I need some help.

Recently, I purchased VideoStudio2021. I downloaded the installation file VideoStudio2021_Online.exe and started the installation. However, the download of the required files aborted short after, with the note about my internet connection that I should check. Well, I did, only to find my connection ok.

I contacted Corel support. They replied, but their help was not really helpful. They advised me the usual stuff, to deactivate my virus scanner, to disable Windows’ (64 bit by the way) UAC, to delete temporary files, etc. Again, I did all this, but with no success; the download aborted just like before.

Then I transferred the installation file to another computer, and what can I say, this time, the download was successful. I only downloaded, but did not install. These downloaded files I transferred again via a USB stick to my main PC, where VideoStudio2021 is supposed to run finally. I started the installation again, and guess - with the same result as above. Although all required files were available, the installation program started another download session that, of course, failed.

How can that be? I also tried using the various installation files in the downloaded files, but apparently they cannot be used as standalone programs.

I am at the end of my Latin. Probably, I could install VideoStudio2021 on the other PC, but there it’s of no use to me.

Does the installer accept any parameter, or is there an offline installer?

I will appreciate any help!

Thanks in advance!

Hi
And welcome to the forums
Unfortunately it does appear to be something on your pc that is affecting the download given that it worked on another pc
When you copied the downloaded files to the main pc you will save those to a folder
Running VideoStudio2021_Online.exe, you should make sure you select that folder.
The process should verify those files without the need to download again.
I would advise that you try installing the Main Program without the additional contents or bonus features.

You could try a new download.
Create a new empty folder.
Copy VideoStudio2021_Online.exe to that folder, run that file
Make sure the download location is pointing to this folder.
Deselect all except the Main Program, does that download.
The Main Program installation files are saved to the 64bit.Ultimate folder

There have been other posts with similar installation issues
https://forum.corel.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=68714

And yes we have to use the VideoStudio2021_Online.exe, file to install the Main Program

I have exactly the same issue and have been trying to get support from Corel since 23rd November. They told me, pretty bizarrely, to use the PSP clean up tool to uninstall PaintShop Pro. Thinking "hey, they are the experts", I did this. It did not help. I reported this back and they advised me to do it again. I asked for confirmation they were really asking me to repeat this. I have had no answer. That was 5 days ago.

I have been asking every day for updates, posting on Facebook daily, but nothing. Yesterday I managed to get someone on a chat call, who initially said he would not help because he could see I already had a support case open. Really?! When I insisted, he said someone would call me back within 30 minutes. No one has called. I had requested a transcript of the chat before it started. I've never received that either.

I then attempted to remove my existing VideoStudio 2020 in case this was somehow blocking the installation. Of course I did first make sure I had a safe copy of the installation file for that and a note of my serial number, in case I needed to put it back. It did not help. So I then tried to re-install VideoStudio 2020 and, you guessed it, it also now won't install, with the same error message. So the situation have now got massively worse and I have no working versions of VideoStudio. I have complained AGAIN to Corel and.... no response.

Having found them on this forum (why couldn't Corel tell me about them themselves?), I have tried the clean up tools for both versions 2020 and 2021. But I still can't install either version.

Like the other reporter, there is nothing wrong with my internet connection and the message is spurious. I accept that perhaps there could be something else on my PC that is stopping the installation. But SURELY it can't be beyond the wit of Corel support to check the circumstances where there installation package might throw this error and give me a pointer as to the root cause?

I am totally at my wits end. Corel support is non-existent. I have a considerable amount of content tied up in .vsp files that I can't now access and I have urgent ongoing work I need to complete.

Can anyone suggest where else I might look for possible cause? Would it be possible for example to trace the install to run a trace on the install package to find out more about what happens when it fails?

Hi Jackie
And welcome to the forums
I am unsure how far you are getting with the download and installation of the program.
The original poster had issues downloading the files which failed with an error.
Can you tell us just how far you are able to get, a screenshot of the error message may help.

I would do this......
First -- to download the files again the program has to be uninstalled, clean-up tool for that.
We can in fact choose “download only“ so the program does not start to install
This would make sure that the download is successful or not.
You are best choosing a new empty download location, create a new folder for these files.

Once download is successful you can now test the installation
Choose the “Custom option” will list the installation packs, deselect all except the Main Program.
Does that install?

Thanks Trevor. I have tried all of these options, plus also trying the "trial" option in case there was an issue validation the serial number, and still have the same problem. The installation package VideoStudio2020_Installer.exe downloads without problems. But when running it, after choosing the various options, inputting the serial number etc., it starts the installation process and then fails after a few seconds with the message "We encountered a problem while downloading. Please check your internet connection." The message does not make sense as there is clearly not a problem with my internet connection. So the installation program is throwing this error in error, in you know what I mean. Something else is happening and it is giving a misleading error message. It would not be difficult for Corel to look at the code and determine what causes that message to be displayed. But so far I have had ZERO support from them beyond telling me wrongly to remove and reinstall PaintShop Pro.

The installation process downloads and Installs at the same time but once download has completed its progress bar disappears leaving only the Installation process bar
I would have thought you were only installing as download would have completed, so as you say a bit unusual to get a download warning?
And should you only choose the Main Program only that would download.

There have been other users having the same install issues
One poster nikkojii indicated a problem with C++ 2015-2019

You could try uninstalling C++ 2015-2019

Thank you. The initial download file "VideoStudio2021_Online.exe" is just to start the process. It downloads without problems. But when it is run it then downloads all of the other application files. This is where it fails. I can see that it manages to download a few files because they are left behind after the process fails. But there is clearly something is the download process that it is trying to do and is being blocked or refused access by something in my Windows setup.
I say "my Windows setup" because following the lead suggested by someone else here I have tried to download and install on another PC. This worked! Interestingly it has left behind what is effectively a set of installation files is a folder on the desktop and gave an instruction to back this up and keep it safe. I've never seen this happen before with any installation of either VS or PSP. So I am now in the process of copying this over to my own PC to see if I can run from there and install successfully. As this should contain all the files needed with no need to go online during the process, I am hoping this will work. Will report back shortly.

Latest position... I have sucecssfully copied all of the installation files to the PC where I want to install the application, into a folder called C:\VideoStudio2021. C:\VideoStudio2021\64bit\Ultimate contains Setup.exe. But when I run that it fails and says it needs to be run from VideoStudio_install.exe. But there is no VideoStudio_install.exe in the copied files or anywhere on either of the PCs. So near yet so far! Any idea where this VideoStudio_install.exe might be lurking or where I can optain a copy from?

Go to
https://www.videostudiopro.com/en/pages/download/
Download the appropriate file
Running this should allow you to insert your serial number
I would advise you to install to the default location

One of the pages gives the option to Custom or Complete, chose Custom will allow you to install only the Main Program

If that works you can install the Contents
Then finally install Bonus Features

Oh give the Clean-up Tool a run before installing

Thanks Trevor. Just tried this. But even though all the required installation files are present on my PC, it still goes online to try to download them and fails. Looking at the respective file sizes, I think VideoStudio2021_installer.exe (downloaded from the link you gave) is just a renamed version of VideoStudio2021_online.exe. They are both exactly 7091KB, which would be quite a coincidence if not the same file.

Ok this is what I do
1 / download the installation file VideoStudio_install.exe. saving this to a folder called VS 2021
This folder will hold all downloaded files associated with the program
2 / Save my serial number to a txt notepad file, saving to the same VS 2021
3 / save the Clean-up tool to VS 2021 folder
4 / running the VideoStudio_install.exe file will allow me to enter the serial number
5 / I change the Download Location to ( you guessed it) the VS 2021 folder
By default this will use a folder on the desktop
It is important that you choose the folder that contains your download files, for you that would be C:\VideoStudio2021 otherwise the process will / may download the files again.
6 / I can choose Complete or Custom, I always choose Custom which shows the individual packages
7 / if I am intending to download then I can choose “download only”
Then install once the downloads are successful.

Yes those files are the same and identified as 2021 with the file size 7091kb
The trial for 2021 will use the same file but could have a different name

The stumbling block here is getting the VideoStudio2021_installer.exe to look for the install files locally rather than going on line for them. How do I do that?

Try copying the VideoStudio2021_installer.exe file to your folder containing the download files, save next to the 64bit folder
You say your downloads are here.... C:\VideoStudio2021
Run the file VideoStudio2021_installer.exe file from there

As my earlier reply
5 / I change the Download Location to ( you guessed it) the VS 2021 folder
By default this will use a folder on the desktop
It is important that you choose the folder that contains your download files, for you that would be C:\VideoStudio2021 otherwise the process will / may download the files again.

If you are still struggling I can provide a few screenshots

Okay, have tried this. I was putting the installer file inside the 64bit folder. When I put it BESIDE there seem to be 2 subtle differences...
1) It takes longer before it displays the first screen
2) When selecting "custom" install, as well as being able to choose which elements and whether to install or just download, I am now being asked to specify directories. These are
download location: C:\VideoStudio2021
install the program to: C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio 2021
Please choose a folder to install content: C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio Content
All of these default file locations look okay to me so I have not changed them.
There is also a check box for "Do not download installed modules again" which I have checked.

But it still fails with the same error.
