VideoStudio 2021 will not install
Hi there, me again, I feel that this time I have been particularly stupid. After the last debacle with version 2019 which still does not work I returned to using 2018. However, having just seen the promotions for 2021 I felt that things must have improved so I bought it. Why didn't I listen to the little voice in my head telling me not to? This version will not even install. All I get is continual messages telling me that a problem was encountered and to contact Technical Support. This I have done but I'm not holding my breath that they will be of any use, so I'd thought I'd ask here to see if anyone else has experienced a similar problem.

Re: VideoStudio 2021 will not install
Sorry you are having these problems
Never had a problem installing Video Studio, that does not help you though.
I intend re-installing video studio, then downloading the installation files as new.
That should give me the same installation files as you, let’s see what happens.
First I have to uninstall my program

Hi! I'm having exactly the same problem and the exact same error message. I've been trying to 'contact tech support' for four days. Apart from the automated reply, I've received nothing from the so called tech support. Tearing my hair out as I'm on a pension and can't afford an $84 AUD lemon. What hurts even more though is that I've been using Corel since Draw 4. I'm now on X8. I trusted the brand.

Re: VideoStudio 2021 will not install
Update: I finally received a response from tech support yesterday. I'm copy pasting it :
'1) Open the run box via Win key + R
2) type appwiz.cpl
3) Uninstall C++ 2015-2019 --32 and 64 bits
4) Open Regedit
5) Highlight Computer
6) Press F3
7) Enter ca67548
Search for and remove the entries relating to Package Cache (both 32 and 64 bit entries -- the search will find the 64 bit, and the 32 will be immediately above it) Press F3 to search for any potential other entries. There will be some you cannot remove. When you have found those close the registry.
9) Reboot the computer
Note: I would suggest you to clear the temp files of your device and disable the firewall and antivirus of the system before downloading.'
I'm running Win7 and uninstalled Corel Draw X8 before starting, in case there was some incompatibility.
I got from step 1 through 7 without too much trouble, but the string 'ca67548' came up with nothing. After three fruitless attempts, I looked up 'Package Cache' and did a 4-part manual clean up that included diskclean, disk defragment [my choice], getting rid of temp files, app data etc.
Fingers crossed, I tried to install VideoStudio 2021 again. Still no joy.
I finally turned off BitDefender antivirus manually - a pain - and downloaded the /trial/ version of VS21 to a folder on the c: drive. Previous versions were on my g: drive. I selected 'Download/install' and...it worked. Trouble is, I have no idea /why/ it worked. I also have an issue with the c++ 2015-2019 uninstall. I play ESO and it reinstalls the c++ when I login. I'm also stuck with a 30 day trial when I paid for a full version. Tech support hasn't gotten back to me on that little problem yet.
If someone could tell me which part of the above actually did the trick, I'd uninstall the trial and try to install the paid version. Until then though, I'm scared I'll end up with nothing.
I'd appreciate whatever help/advice you guys can offer.

If I were in the same position I would start afresh with a complete new download of the programs installation files.
We cannot download new files whilst the program is installed
1 / First I have to Uninstall the Trial to do that I would use the Cleanup Tool download from here:-
https://forum.corel.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=59847
2 / Now I create a new empty folder on my PC, adding the VideoStudio2021_Installer.exe file (7,091Kb) to this folder
3 / Run VideoStudio2021_Installer.exe
4 / enter your serial number, do not install the trial
5 / Make sure the download folder is pointing to the empty folder created in 2 above
6 / Download all files choosing Download only
7 / To install the program choose Main Program only, deselecting all other options
Once installed try running the program
If that works run VideoStudio2021_Installer.exe again to install the other packages.
At least that is the approach I would follow

Re: VideoStudio 2021 will not install
Thanks Trevor, I'll start by saying that I did get VS installed. I didn't know about the Cleanup Tool so essentially got rid of everything manually. Then once I had a clean slate, I uninstalled C++ 2015-2019 --32 and 64 bits AND turned off my antivirus. Then I did what you suggested and downloaded a brand new version of VS into a new location.
Two things I noticed after VS finally installed:
1. it installs the 64bit version of C++ 2015-2019 only
2. Corel Draw X8 however seems to need the 32bit verison [as does Elder Scrolls Online]
Luckily for me, Elder Scrolls Online installs both versions on startup if they are missing. That's pretty much how I got X8 to reinstall successfully.
My guess is that there's something in C++ 2015-2019 --32bit that messes with the VS installer because once it's installed, having C++ 2015-2019 --32 doesn't stop the program from working.
Given that a lot of older and current programs require both versions of C++ 2015-2019, I'm surprised the Corel engineers haven't fixed whatever the issue is.
Anyway, many thanks for your response and I hope the other person with this installation problem got his problem sorted as well.
Cheers!
