Yes Trevor. I Had renamed the 24.0 folder to 24.0_old in both locations.

Suggest that all OS updates are installed before reinstalling VS2021.Martin H wrote:My Ryzen 9 PC should be back on Monday and I will have to reinstall all my editing software as it is having a clean install of Win10.
I'd say no. I've a Ryzen 9 that's running X8, X9, X10, VS2018, VS2019 and VS2021 on a routinely patched Win 10 w/o issues to date.Martin H wrote:If windows updates has the potential the stop VS loading should I consider unplugging the internet connection from the Ryzen 9 machine as soon as I get the software re-installed?

Re: Video Studio 2021 fails to run
Power spikes on the grid would be reasonably common - not normally noticed because there are so many things - like intervening switchyards, transformers down to the local street feed etc which hi frequency spikes have much difficulty crossing because they are such low frequency devices - that the only one that would have an impact is something very local to you. A lightning strike would be rare, but a car accident that crashed a power pole, wrote off a road side sub-station or a big motor failure in your immediate vicinity have all happened to me: those cause lots of spikes. And then there is the PC power supply - stepping down from 240VAC to 5VDC. But if you were running one of the start programs in the background when a spike or unplanned power shutdown got thru all that . . it's happened to most of us. And the only way to fix it without knowing what parts were corrupted is a complete re-install, using the latest download files. Part of that is uninstalling the current software first, and cleaning it up: use the clean up tool, and any cleaners you have, with particular emphasis on cleaning the registry, and re-booting from a cold start (to empty out the RAM) before you attempt a new install.
If you have already done that, or doing it doesn't help, then all I can suggest is that there is something in the registry which is preventing a new start. It happens - after I migrated to windows10, I could not get any prior versions of CVS (X9 thru 2020) I used to function properly (just selecting Share mode jammed the whole PC): all of those were first installed under windows 7, and I came to the conclusion that there was something in the registry carried over from win7 to win10 that caused this. Only an installation that had NOT been installed first under win7 might fix it, and when 2021 was released later - it installed on win10 and worked without a hiccup and has done for 8 months now.
A new registry would also fix that, but it also means a new clean install of windows first.
All of that is a lot of work. If you have a 2nd PC that doesn't have CVS installed on it, you could verify that the specific PC is the source by installing CVS on it using the installer and a fresh download, and verifying that it runs OK.
Have you considered asking for a dial-in remote connection by tech support to try and further isolate what is wrong???

Re: Video Studio 2021 fails to run
That sounds like a good plan.
Yes. That's the route I decided to follow.
It has CVS 2020 on it and NB collections. I'm nervous about installing any more Corel products on it.
I've used Corel tech support previously in relation to an issue I had with multiple NB collections on my second PC. First line support were as useful as a chocolate teapot as they failed to even read my reports and then sent me round in circles. The issue ran between November 2020 and February this year and was unresolved alhough NB support did eventually advise me that "we have had issues where, when multiple NewBlue collections were installed on a user's computer, their copy of VideoStudio would not start correctly". Corel didn't admit that and simply directed me to check that that all my PC drivers were up to date. It's documented on this thread.
I deliberately chose not to install any additional NB collections on my new PC.
As there are some very knowledgeable contributors on this forum I decided not to go down the tech support route again.
The Ryzen 9 PC isn't back yet so I'll provide a further update when I'm up and running again. Thanks for all your helpful suggestions

Re: Video Studio 2021 fails to run
CV2021 now back up and running. As a precaution I purchased a 6-outlet Surge Protection Strip.
To re-install I downloaded and ran VideoStudio2021_Online.exe. When run this created a VideoStudio21 folder on the desktop and installed the software. This desktop folder contains three sub-folders 64bit, Common and StandardContent2. Browsing the folders identifies a number of different setup.exe files. If I needed to re-install the VS2021 again in the future will the VideoStudio2021_Online.exe always be the best way forward or will I have to install via the saved folders? If via the saved folders which is the correct set-up file to use?
I also downloaded two additional files: Video_overlays_pack.exe and VS_templates.exe. I didn't install these last time and wondered where I would find the install instructions. I looked at the user guide and drew a blank. Thanks.

Re: Video Studio 2021 fails to run
Hi Martin
Good to know that you have your pc back, I am sure up and running without issues.
The VideoStudio2021_Online.exe file, 7,091Kb think of this as a Download Installation Manager.
Installing Video Studio has to use the 7,091Kb file, we cannot install the actual program using the Setup.exe file.
Just to confuse us Corel have given this file different names, I have VideoStudio2021_Installer.exe and VideoStudio_Install.exe, identified for 2021 by the file size of 7,091Kb
Running this file Downloads the installation files to a folder on the desktop but we can choose any other Download Location, I use my E Drive.
Now within the downloaded folder on your desktop you may find another copy of the VideoStudio_Install.exe file again at 7,091Kb. (not sure of that name.)
Those Folders
The 64 bit folder contains…
Ultimate folder – this is the installation files for the actual program
Bonus Features – this folder contains the files to effectively update Pro to Ultimate.
All other folders , Contents and Common folders etc are part of the program to complete installation by adding samples, profiles and templates to the programs library.
Again Installing Video Studio we should use the VideoStudio2021_Online.exe file.
Additional packs
Video_overlays_pack.exe and VS_templates.exe
I do not have those files but assume the Templates would show in the library section as Templates
The Overlay_Pack, again do not have that file, I get the impression it contains Video or Image samples probably using a transparent background, After installing the samples may need importing to the library, then again that may be automatic, I just do not know.
You may be best to use the program to get used to the library content before installing those packs so you are aware of any changes.

Re: Video Studio 2021 fails to run
Those additional packs download Ok, but you have to find them on your PC. I've moved mine to a separate folder and have forgotten where they originally were stored by "get more" (desktop? the browser download folder?..?). double clicking the file runs an extraction program to get the contents as individual files, and then you have to install each one individually, which is a pain pain in the posterior. The action of downloading should install and insert into VS, but it doesn't. I have seen complaints about this so often, but corel has not listened.

David
I believe the two packs mentioned by Martin have been provided by Corel when purchasing Video Studio and not the ones downloaded from GetMore.
Hence the reason for my comment #I do not have those files #
I can only guess as to how those files install.

Re: Video Studio 2021 fails to run
Trevor,
Presumably, the extra items were downloaded: so the uninstalled files should be at least in the browser downloads location (default, or the one changed in the browser config).
On past performance from Corel, executing these files - one by one - would normally do a self extract to one of the *windows* <user> folders, and from there each one would have to be individually executed to install. During the extraction process, the file names become visible and you only need to remember one of them and do a search for it - which should find the location for them all.

Video Studio 2021 fails to run. After an exhausting day with tech support (issue is still there). If I click on any of the templates or FX, Video Studio goes away as well as times out and vanishes after no activity.lata wrote: ↑Mon Nov 22, 2021 11:02 amgajanpriyagajanpriya wrote: ↑Sun Nov 21, 2021 7:59 pm I am also having the same issue - Tried all the methods listed here as well.

I have been unable to get the VS 2021 to launch. I have followed all these steps and nothing seems to work. I have a Lenovo Ideapad3 running Windows 10 Home. I do not see the update that is listed here, although I see some .NET updates.

Re: Video Studio 2021 fails to run
Your other posts indicates you have managed to launch Video Studio, is this correct?
Maybe tell the posters here how you did that?
The program tends to fail on the first attempt, for me always runs when trying again.
