VS 2021 gone crazy

Post by pepegota »

While editing and using the cursor to move around it changes to a cross and I cannot continue to edit.
Files used m2ts. Tried Storyboard mode and it freezes. I never have seen such behavior before. No problem with Power Director. Sample file: https://www.sugarsync.com/pf/D1814182_040_952850140
Transitions do not work-it's crazy. This was a reinstall too.

Your sample file is a JPG (attached). What is it supposed to demonstrate?

Try this: https://www.sugarsync.com/pf/D1814182_040_952805529
I restored an image backup and the same problem exists. The arrow cursor turns to a cross and I cannot function. It looks like my computer does not like VS. After more than ten years of use, I may have to go elsewhere. Transitions do not work also-a mess.

Open a Command Prompt as Administrator. Type in:

sfc /scannow

Then press the Enter key. It will take a couple minutes to run as it looks for system file errors and tries to correct errors.

No problem with SFC. Some functions of VS work, motion control, split sound, but using it in total is not an option. However, using it with Power Director, which has no problems, I have a hybrid system. At least I can function. This problem exists on three computers, i9,i7 and a laptop. The i9 and the laptop are on Win 10 and the i7 is on Win11. "Something rotten in the state of Denmark."

I restored an old image backup from one month ago and now VS is working as it should. I must have picked up something that VS did not like, but all is back to normal.
If anything this proves, is the wisdom of computer image backups.

Dead in the water. VS crashes and freezes. Reinstall to no avail.
I just installed an old backup image file, from a month ago, that saved the day. I must have pickup something that VS did not like.
If anything, this shows the value of an image backup! It's good to be back.
