Candy, I have managed to create a different Mpeg2 profile that appears to render without the lines,
Unfortunately it only works when using interlacing Lower Field First
I believe you are using Frame Based aka Progressive or using Upper Field.
but need some info from you and you to test.

Can you give the properties you are using to create the Mpeg 2 , interested in the interlacing, frame based or field order.
The new profile may mess up your project so test with a copy.

Please use this video clip ( one second black clip) to create a new Profile
Open Settings - Movie Profile Manager
Select mpeg2 as the Format
Now select the Add option
browse for this video clip called
Candy Mpeg2 Profile LFF.mpg
Now Close the panel

Go to share Mpeg2 where the new profile should be available via Mpeg2 profiles.

Otherwise add the clip as the first on the top timeline.
Then Share Same as First Video Clip
Candy Mpeg2 Profile LFF.zip

I have come to the conclusion that there is an issue with the Mpeg2 render engine
Not only does standard DVD using Mpeg2 suffer but also affects AVCHD files from share AVC/H.264 allow us to choose to use Mpeg2 or H264, using Mpeg2 as the video format also shows the white lines apparent when using 1920 x 1080 HD frame sizes.

Trevor: I'm trying your steps - at "browse for this video clip called Candy Mpeg2 Profile LFF.mpg, File Path is grayed out, only box "Profile Name" is available. Do I just type in "Candy Mpeg2 Profile LFF.mpg"? I know where I saved it but can't browse for it. Should I continue with my test? I am happy to, just stumped at not being able to browse for the "....LFF.mpg" file.

You have to select the small box containing the dots, a little greyed out
As my image

Otherwise add the video as the first clip on the timeline and use Share - Same as First Video Clip.
But as i say it is Lower Field First and I think you are using Frame Based

When you run the program installer you should choose a new empty folder as your download folder, this will provide you with the latest installation files.
I installed video studio using that process just prior to testing this issue.
I doubt that re- installing the program will fix this problem, but give it a go.

Oh........ you will have to first uninstall the program to allow you to download any files

Aside from the left line issue on MP2 files in VS 2021, I was just at our local camera store (Samy's Camera in Pasadena, CA). Video guy said I could get better quality burning to Blue Ray, but I'd need the burner and Blue Ray discs. I clicked on DVD burn/Blue Ray in VS and it's asking for a fee, $7.99 or thereabouts, probably for access to Blue Ray burning. At my stage (age, lol) I'm not going to invest in a burner and discs for this. I'm assuming by now most of the non-tech people who want their performance on a DVD would by now have Blue Ray players but maybe some not. Do you all ever have need to burn to Blue Ray discs?

FWIW I bought a Blu-Ray burner at least 5 years ago, plus the Corel plug-in for burning, and have quite a supply of blank discs. But with the advent of streaming I have not burnt an actual Blu-Ray disc in at least 4 years... In fact it is now difficult even to find blank BD discs here in New Zealand these days.

The Pasadena guy was right in that BD disc are much better quality than standard DVDs. However, if you distribute the discs, your recipients would need to have Blu-Ray players to play them...

Ken, exactly, that's what the camera store guy said. The people who want their performance on a disk I'm sure are totally non tech, lol. Camera guy said tell them to download the MP4 from the Dropbox onto a thumb drive, then the question would be "how do I download to a thumb drive?" LOL

A thumb drive plugged in to a PC is just another "save to" location, or just use explorer to specify that in a copy operation. Once done, take it and plug in to the TV monitor and play it from there. That assumes the monitor has a usb connection for that - most large screen devices and smart TV's do. If the TV or monitor doesn't have that sort of facility - a DVD is what you are left with.

Update - Per my Nov 4, 10:56 am comment above with instructions from Corel Support to uninstall VS 2021 and reinstall, also importing my library - it did not work, still have the left side line on MP2 render.
