Hi Candy
Thanks for the file info, I have tested again using a black colour clip to avoid any trouble that video files may cause
again I get the white line down the left hand side

This occurs every time I render to Mpeg2, I have not found a fix so far.

I have to say again the the line is on the far left of the video frame and probably would not show when viewing the file on a TV.
also if the frame was a complete image with no black boarder, (4:3 inside a 16:9 frame) then the line would be obscured with the frame content.

Post Updated
I have tested same using VS 2020 with no problems, so does appear to be an issue with VS2021 which will require a fix by Corel, I assume that may take some time
Candy----you say you have contacted Corel Support -- can you provide me with your Ticket number.

Hi Trevor: Here's my ticket number with subject line of e-mails from them: "[Corel #3091917] Videostudio 2021- straight line while burn to DVD"

I just did a real short file render to MP2 with VS 2019 and no line. I tried to pull up my VS 2021 Pro project in 2019 and it wouldn't load.

What if I bought VS 2021 Ultimate just to get thru this project, client wants it Tues, it's early AM Monday right now. Would you be able if you have 2021 Ultimate to do a real quick test making an MP2?

I am using VS 2021 Ultimate and have this problem, you will not fix this by purchasing 2021 Ultimate

I did try using the project file to burn the disc which renders during the Share - Disc process, first attempt seemed ok with no line, then repeated tests showed the line again.

Trevor, thanks for trying the render with VS 2021. What I think I'll do is watch the MP2 and lay a black background down on spots where the line is more noticeable, where the image does not go out to frame edge. Maybe I can get away with it sort of that way. I'm thinking there might not be many people burning DVDs with MP2 these days thus this issue not discovered earlier.

You could try filling the black bar with a colour, Background Blur may do what you want
Make a copy of the project file and test

Add FX Background Blur to the 4:3 video clips, the frame will be filled with a similar colours as the video
Just tried and rendering that to Mpeg2 did not have the white line
Need to test again to confirm.......

Trevor - Thanks so much for the suggestion of background blur. I'm going to use it in a couple of places and "fit to project size" for a couple backgrounds (not VS ones) on the video timeline.

Trevor - I got this reply from Corel Support this afternoon. I renamed the MP2 to JPEG but Corel VS wouldn't open it - LOL - I think he might be thinking it's about a file within the project? I asked him to explain.

Thank you for contacting Corel Customer Support Services.

if it is for the specific file,

>I would suggest you to rename the file extension from .mp2 to .jpeg and then import to Videostudio.

To rename the file extension, kindly follow the below steps in your computer:
-Kindly go to the Control Panel->Appearance and Personalization-> File Explore options-> View.
-sure that the checkbox for "File extensions for known file types" is unchecked.
-Then go to the actual location of your Video file and rename the file extension from .mp2 to .jpeg.
-Then import the video to Videostudio and check if that helps you.

Let me know if that works for you.

Please do not hesitate to contact us with any further questions.

Regards,
Vidhya

Otherwise, it is a nonsense for them to suggest that you can convert a multiple frame video into a single frame jpeg by simply changing the extension, and expect anything to work! I'm not sure I've heard anything quite as silly, and especially coming from customer support...

Trevor & Ken: Is there a way to know when Corel does a fix on this issue? I told my client I'd burn a 2nd batch if fix is available.

Thanks always for your help.

I suspect they are unlikely to do a fix for VS2021. If a fix is done, it will more likely be in VS2022 which is due out in 3 or 4 months, though we don't have any date yet nor any idea of what is likely to be in it...

Ken, thanks for your reply. My client is going to tell her performers to download the MP4 file from my Dropbox to view with better resolution without the left margin line. I can burn better DVDs for her if the fix is in VS2022. Should I put it on the wish list for 2022 and tell the support guy it's a bug and to fix in 2022?
