Background color change

Post by jimbir »

How do I change the background color of the attached image? I'd like it to be a light green.

Color Replacer Tool

Set foreground color to the shade of green you want
Set background color to the BG color of your image

Select color replacer tool
Click on your background
BG color will be replaced with your shade of green

Many thanks.
Would I follow the same procedure for the text and border?

You can also use the Color Changer Tool that is nested under the Flood Fill Tool.

Don't forget to increase the color depth of your image. The image you posted doesn't accept color.

Thanks Jean. I figured out when I tried to change the background color of the image which I did successfully..
Now I need more help. I want to, change the color of the text which is, of course, on a vector layer. I changed that to a raster layer.Following the instructions in the book, I set the present color of the text as the foreground fill and the color that I want to change it to as the background fill. I set the tolerance level to 200 And left the softness level at 20.I can place the cursor over one of the letters in the text and, no matter which buttons I click or double-click, nothing happens.Swapping the foreground and background colors doesn't help.
I figure I'm missing a step or two. Can someone put me on the right track?

In the case you asked about, you need to set the background fill to the color of the text (the color you are replacing with the foreground fill) if you use the color replacer for this. You can also change the color of the text when it is in vector format by changing the text properties in the layer pallet.

Thanks for your reply. It doesn't matter which color I put in the foreground and background boxes, it doesn't work. The text was originally on a vector layer but, when I tried to change the color, a window popped up telling me I had to change it to a raster layer which I did.

If it's a vector you need to change the properties of the shape, not use any of the fill bucket or color changer tools. If you attempt to use any raster tool on a vector layer it'll ask to be converted to a raster. If you can undo the change and get back to a vector that would be best. Then just double-click on the object in the layers palette to bring up the properties. Where you can then change the stroke and fill colors using the color picker dialog.

Just to confirm:

- the text layer is active
- the background swatch is set to the color of the text
- with the color replacer tool selected, you are double clicking on the text object. I am getting the text changed to the foreground swatch color

Also to confirm as Levi stated, you can change the vector text color without converting to a raster layer (no color replacer tool needed) by changing the properties in the layer pallet.
