Warning about using v8 with built in Overlay Image Masks

Post by v2to8 »

Having done some testing and lost a project using v8 beta, just a warning to others...... Here is how to recreate the problem :

1. Add either a video file, or just a color clip on the timeline.
2. Save the file as say "test.dvp"
3. So far so good - you can close the project and re-open it with no errors.

but now....

4. On that color clip / video file, add an Overlay / Image Mask and select any of the images shown (brush/heart/star/16:9 etc). I used "Halo".
5. Save the file again.
6. Close and reopen MediaStudio
7. Try to open the file. It comes up with an error. You cannot open that file. :x

Can someone confirm this bug. I don't think it's just my system.

Got the same issue here. I used one of the supplied sample video clips on the main timeline. Saved it, reopened no problems. Placed the halo mask, saved it, and MSP8 would not open it..."File Reading Error" (20379:1:121)

This thread will be reported in the beta forum.

Thanx for confirming that vidoman - I get exactly the same error, and thanks Terry for passing the error on. It seems the error is related to the TIF files used as masks. If I convert the halo.tif file to a TGA and use that as the image matte, there is no problem with saving and re-opening...

Apart from that, I'm really enjoying the new text editor! :D

Have you been doing any multi-layered titles yet?

I must admit that was a nice suprise :) :)

Certainly have :D :D :D

One for the wish list is to have a numeric input on the text window like with the moving path dialog box so you can accurately left/top align different text layers with each other. The grid isn't so good.

A major improvement over v7 :D
