on interlacing what gives the best quality lower/bottom field first or upper top field first??
on picture structure do i pick always field , always frame or automatic for best quality picture

Whatever preserves the field order that you are capturing is what will give you the best output quality.
If you are using DV as the source, that will be lower-field first. With analog sources, it's usually upper-field first. If you have an analog capture device, you can have Videostudio attempt to detect the correct field order by using the option to change the field order, and then clicking on the Detect button.
Preserve the capture field order when you make disks, and you'll be in good shape.
