Video Studio Ultimate 2021 - Crashes on startup - Solved

Post by nbrooks503 »

I'm having a problem with a new install of VS-Ultimate 2021.

The program will get to the splash screen and then just crash.
I have done the following
1. Uninstalled previous version (2020) of the program and used the 2020 cleanup tool
2. Uninstalled NewBlue
3. Did reinstallation of main program only - the program works
4. added standard content - and the program crashed.
5. Uninstalled program and reinstalled all components without the Standard Content
(Main Program, Bonus Features,Standard Content2, Video Overlays, VS Templates.
6. Updated Nvida graphics driver to latest
7. Tried the repair function in the installation. Repair gets to about 1/3 and then causes computer to reboot.

The program is working when I do not add the Standard Content which is apparently causing the crash. So I'm currently
using the program without the Standard Content installed.

8. There's also another issue. I purchased a template pack from the store and when I hit the install button nothing happens
and I do not see anything downloading although the purchase is listed in My Library. This is pretty frustrating and
I did initiate a support ticket 2 days ago but so far only an acknowledgement and a ticket.

I'm not certain why this is happening and the previous versions of Video Studio I have had all worked with no problem.

Any advice would be appreciated - Thanks

While it took me about 6 hours of fooling around uninstalling reinstalling registry cleaning - I finally fixed the problem
I booted into safe mode, ran the program and it worked. I then booted normally and VS2021 is running correctly
