I have Windows 10 on a Surface Book. If I get time I'll install CVS tomorrow and report back. :)

Most of us have VS running on Windows 10, but the OP is interested in VS running on Windows 11.

There's been at least one topic thread on this forum about windows 11 - mostly about the hardware limits it will require. In a nutshell, if your PC is older than 1-2 years it's highly likely the device is not compatible (it takes 2 vendors at least - MS and the maker of your system: see next comment) and to upgrade to win11 you would have to buy a new PC. Apart from MS continued effort to put a new image on each new windows version - it will look different - the actual operation of software that works on win10 should not be affected.
In my case, the desktop I write this on runs windows 10 21h1 but fails the hardware specs for win 11 because the cpu isn't a supported item, and the mb manufacturer says it's too old for them to support secure boot/TPM 2.0 on it.

My PC's can run it, but there maybe software problems, etc.? I have a Windows 10 Disc Image so, I should be able to restore Windows 10 if needed.

I've previously commented on the update cycle for win11. I've re-checked that detail - one of the links in the MS PC check item that's now appearing in the windows10 settings/system about page gives that detail for all the recent windows OS versions - and win11 will be updated with a new version yearly, with the expected support life of any version being 3 years. That's double what it is for win 10. No doubt there will be monthly patches, but the 6-month updates for win10 (may and oct) have been significantly changed for the new one.

It's been widely mused on in commentary that the win10 21h2 update would in fact be windows 11. Win 11 is indeed out. And any 21h2 update for win10 hasn't happened yet. so maybe the musings were right.

"Has anyone install Windows 11 and what affect does it have on VS?"

To answer the direct question, it seems to run perfectly fine. I've just installed the trial onto a Surface Book 1, no issues. I then added two small vids to the timeline, faded them together, cut bits, reduced audio and then created the video. Plays fine. Basically, no issues. Sure, it's a QUICK test, but it passed.

It was a Windows 11 upgrade, not a clean install. Clean install would always be preferred, but Windows 11 won't install onto a Surface Book (despite running Windows 11 as an insider).

I installed Windows 11 on my computer without issue. However, the taskbar is terrible. It cannot be customiized. My toolbar with all my video software is gone. It makes work harder not simpler. VS ran just fine-no problems. This is not an improvement, but a pain you know where.

At the moment Win 11 and AMD Ryzen processors have performance issues, Microsoft and AMD appear to be blaming each other, it seems that Win 11 is causing the L3 cache latency to triple with AMD stating that this results in performance drops between 3 and 5% on applications and up to 15% for games.
There are also issues with the "preferred core" tech used in Ryzen chips, which appears to be malfunctioning with Win 11

So for the time being will stay well away from Win 11

No problems with Intel processors. I had to change work flow a little as the Taskbar is completely different. You cannot increase size, just it move center or left. You cannot go to the Desktop from the Browser as simply as with Win 10. If you have lots of icons in the Taskbar and open a window the open icon replaces an adjacent icon on the Taskbar. Do not load with too many icons. No custom Toolbars so, I use a folder instead. Everything else seems to work fine-no problem with programs. Another observation is about the Start menu. This new one is so lacking in customization features to the point of frustration. You can't resize it in any way, shape, or form. You can't remove the Recommended Files list. All in all it is just not as user friendly as Win 10. I hope things will change in the future.
Correction: You can open to the Desktop from a browser by right clicking the Windows Icon on the Taskbar-another nuance.
If you try to unzip with MS it crashes to Desktop. Fix needed.

Google for tweakers, if it's from MS then it can be tweaked.

I am using Windows 11. I have no problems using Video Studio and rendering seems to be faster. Other applications are fine. The first 3 days were uncomfortable, but it got better and better. The taskbar can be left-aligned. But after use, the middle is more convenient.

I have just loaded windows 11 and it is great if you love change. It changed and removed programs that I have used before on Windows. I don't think they take into account users preferences just change whatever they want to seemingly make it better....not... So after saying that what I have just found as I just went to use my Videostudio 2021, I have been using for a while on Windows 10, is that it changed my video editing screen and it no longer has start stop rewind icons on this screen and the screens looks a little different. So I cannot edit in Videostudio 2021. I went back and loaded my Videostudio 2018 and it looks like it works ok for the moment. It looks like I will have to reload videostudio 2021, sigh, I wonder what other surprises this supposedly new upgrade of Windows 11 will bring.
