How to fill the outside of selection?

Post by deepndark »

Hello!

I've always wanted to know this: When I select something, - how to fill or edit the outside parts of the selection instead of the inside?

Thanks!

Selections>Invert will take your original selection and invert it so that the previously unselected portion of the image now becomes the selected portion.

Alternatively, you could promote the initial selection to Layer and then in the layers palette select the previous layer and do whatever you want to that layer. The promoted selection can then be merged back to the layer it was originally promoted from.

I use Ctrl+Shift+I to invert the selection.
