PSP Pro will not open

Post by Edison99 »

Hi,
I’ve been using PaintShop Pro for several years without any issues. The current version (2021) was installed in February 2021 and has not caused any problems until yesterday.

Initially I had issues with the 64-bit version of PaintShop Pro 2021. The message told me that ‘MSVCR110.dll was not found’. The message recommended reinstalling the program. Note that the 32-bit version opened OK.

I first uninstalled PSP 2021, then reinstalled from my PSP 2021 Ultimate DVD, both 32-bit and 64-bit versions.

But when I tried opening the 64-bit version I still got the same MSVCR110.dll message. In addition, when I tried opening the 32-bit version I now got the message ‘This copy of PaintShop Pro has been damaged or illegally modified. Please reinstall from your original source’.

I did some investigating, and I found that MSVCR110.dll was available from the Microsoft site, and I repaired the file.

However, I now got the ‘damaged or illegally modified’ message for both 32 and 64-bit versions.

I again uninstalled PSP 2021 and reinstalled, but I still got the same message.

Any advice please?

For info the PC is an HP with an i7-8700 processor, 8GB RAM, and Windows 10. I have several other Corel products installed, including Corel Aftershot 3, Corel FastFlick 2021, Corel Painter Essentials 7, Corel VideoStudio 2021, plus Roxio Creator NXT Pro 8.

Hi,
Thanks for your quick response.
First I looked for Protexis, this was not listed
Secondly I checked compatibility mode, I can confirm no boxes were checkmarked on either 32 or 64-bit versions
I don't know if it's significant, but the artcle covered earlier Windows versions, not 10

I don't have PSP2021 (using 2019) nor do I have the other Corel programs you mentioned. However, to my knowledge the only Corel program related to PSP that has MSVCR110.dll within its folder structure is Corel Screen Cap within the Corel folder under Program Files. Otherwise the only other places I have that file is within the Windows System 32 folder and the SysWOW64 FOLDER.

The best suggestion I can come up with is to first uninstall PSP2021 and then use the Cleanup tool available from the sticky post near the top of this forum. Make sure that Corel Screen Cap is also uninstalled. Then download Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2012 from the Microsoft site and reinstall it (the required DLL file is within that package). Then reinstall your PSP 2021.

Hi,

Thanks for your help.

Not having succeeded to getting PSP 2021 to work I've now uninstalled 2021 and reverted to my copy PSP 2019, which installed OK and is working fine.

I suggest that this thread be closed. I won't be reinstalling 2021 any time soon.

Thank you all, E
