Do you mean that everytime you boot your AMD Ryzen system, you get a message about updating? I don't experience this issue on my AMD Ryzen system. Is this an OS message or from something else? A screen capture of the message would be useful.

Fortunately my experience with an AMD Ryzen system doesn't match yours, and to date, I find the system satisfactory with little difference from an Intel-based system.

The latest build of Win 10 is in fact 21H1 build 19043.1237 which came out a few months ago (June, I think...) I have all my Win 10 machines on that at the moment. At least with a new computer you will be able to be our Win 11 guinea pig!!

The laptop gives version as 2009 ( which I think is 21H1) Build 19043.1237, The desktop, Win 10 updated to 20H2 earlier today states no updates available everything is up to date

As your getting the message that "Your device needs updates to stay secure. Install a newer version of Windows 10", it sounds like an update didn't install correctly and needs to be reinstalled. Running the Windows Update Troubleshooter might help.

As well, running an up-to-date AV scan would be worthwhile.

Yes, Version 21H1 (OS Build 19043.1237) appear to be the latest, so suggest running "Check for Updates" and looking for anything under "View Optional Updates".

Fire up Device Manager and look under Display adapters to see if an AMD graphics card is listed. If it is and you don't have an AMD graphics card installed then you'll need to uninstall the device.

Problem is, I am not given the option to update to the newer version, Optional Updates lists nothing available

Device Manager only shows the Nvidia graphics, that's what's so annoying

Did you make a clean install of Win10 on your new system or somehow copy over your Win10 installation from your old system? If it was a clean install, it's curious that Windows mistook a NVIDIA card for an AMD Radeon card.

What about M/B bios and drivers? have you visited ASUS support?

As it's a new installation how about starting on using portable apps, to keep it lean and mean as possible?

Win 10 21H1 has been a rolling distribution. Not everyone got it at the same time, though if you use the MS MS Update Assistant, it will download a copy of the latest installation files for it, and you can install it manually.

I first got 21H1 notified to me by MS under Updates on my main computer and two others which also run Win 10 Pro (not Home) back in June. But my other computers, running Home, did not show it for a while, and each did so on fairly different dates. The last to be updated only showed it around 5 days ago. Last month I was also fixing a laptop whose Win 10 had failed completely. I had to reload Win 10 from an embedded rescue partition on its hard drive (it's a HP). That reinstalled a fresh copy of Win 10, but a 3 year old version. I then updated it manually to the latest version 21H1 by using the MS Update Assistant.
