PSP 2021 ULT. Vector Object distribution problem

Hello, I'd like to ask for some help on using PSP 2021 ult. I am trying to distribute vector objects to evenly space rectangle vector shapes vertically to create a simple pattern.

I read the guide on how to do so, and proceeded as written:

1.)Use shape tool to create a rectangle
2.)Use pick tool to select
3.)Right click and go to distribute
4.)Clicked on 'space evenly vert.'

Except the options were grayed out. I'm not sure why this is happening, nothing on the forums or the guide said anything about having this problem. Here is a picture of my PSP:

If anyone knows how to solve this issue, please help me. Honestly the answer is probably obvious and I'm an idiot but for the life of me I can't figure out why the options are grayed out.

You cannot distribute a single shape.
Select the shape with the pick tool, duplicate the layer with its shape as many time as needed, select all and distribute.
