VS2021 Templates and overlays
I finally gave up today and purchased VS2021 (as an upgrade).
The download came with two freebies, 'Video overlays' and 'VS Templates', these were separate downloads. Operating the downloaded exe file tells me the installation is complete. The 'Video overlays' pack has appeared as a folder on my desktop (946Mb).
I am sure that I read somewhere that these need to be moved to become operative but I can't find a definitive answer in the forum.
The 'VS templates' also says installation is complete but I can't find these, are they automatically linked to the main programme?
In addition the full set of VS programme files have appeared in a folder named 'Video Studio 2021' (5.75GB) on my desktop. Should these be in C:/Programme files?
Although there are some (about 5.9GB worth) of extra files/folders in C:/Programme Files/Corel with today's date.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: VS2021 Templates and overlays
Hi John
First the folder on the desktop Video Studio 2021' (5.75GB) was downloaded when you first installed the program. You could have chosen any location but default is the desktop. You can move these folders if you wish. I also save the Video Studio Installer file with these files, along with a txt containing my serial number.
The folder on C : Program Files/Corel/VideoStudio2021 is the actual installed program and should remain in tact.
The free packs
VS Templates, I do not have that package but assume they will show in the Templates library.
Unfortunately i do not know how many nor what they are.
The actual folders for each template are usually saved to the VSTemplates folder within documents folders. Documents / Video Studio Pro / VSPTemplates
Overlays
Again do not have those
What is the content of the desktop folder.
If it contains .exe files then those need running to install, not sure what to expect?

Re: VS2021 Templates and overlays
Hello Trevor, thanks for the reply.
I have sent you a PM with further details as requested.
The Video Overlays folder (on my Desktop) contains .mov files and .png files, none of these are in the main programme.
Can I move the Desktop VS2021 folder (5.75GB) to a portable drive or USB stick?
Regards, John

Re: VS2021 Templates and overlays
John
Yes you can move the folder from your desktop to any other location.
If you re-install the program those files will be downloaded again, you can choose a download location other than the desktop.
The overlay folder seems to contain sample mov and png images.
First you should import to the programs library, I would assume the Graphics library.
You can create a new library folder to hold these clips. To use simply drag to the overlay timelines.
As mentioned I do not have these packs so just making an educated guess.

Re: VS2021 Templates and overlays
Hello Trevor,
So, I assume that I could just delete the VideoStudio 2021 folder on my desktop?
Also I suppose that I can move the Desktop Video Overlays folder to Corel Program Files and then import to Graphics and Animated Overlays in VS2021?
Regards, John

Re: VS2021 Templates and overlays
Yes to both of those options
I chose to save the desktop folder to a different drive other than the C Drive, very little of my personal stuff is on the C Drive which I keep free for program installations.
For the Overlays the Programs Files folder would not be my choice instead I would use
C:\Users\UserName\Documents\Corel VideoStudio Pro
Here you should also find the VSPTemplates folder.

Re: VS2021 Templates and overlays
Hello Trevor,
Just to clarify, what does the Desktop VS2021 (5.75GB) folder actually do? Would I ever need these files again?
My Templates and overlays folders are in C:/Documents/VideoStudio Pro/24 (Although my programme is the ULT version).
I have now managed to import the overlays to the main programme, Corel don't make it easy do they.
Thanks yet again for your help, much appreciated.

Re: VS2021 Templates and overlays
This big folder on your desktop will enable you to reinstall Videostudio without the need to redownload everything again.
Best regards

Re: VS2021 Templates and overlays
Hi
When you purchased Video Studio you received a lnk to download Video Studio-Online.exe file, just a small file approx. 6 Mb
Think of this file as a download installation manager.
Running this file allows you to enter our serial number, the process checks our registration details
We can then download the Video Studio programs Instillation files which by default are saved to a folder on the desktop, it is these files that are used to install Video Studio.
Running the video studio install file does allow us to choose a Download location other than the desktop folder.
Indeed we can download those files again but first we have to uninstall 2021
Re-installing video studio
first uninstall the program then run Video Studio-Online.exe file
Download Location folder Selecting the folder that contains the original download and the process will check the contents to download only addition files that are required, should there be any changes.
Selecting an empty Download folder would download all installation files again
Clear as mud

Re: VS2021 Templates and overlays
My tiny brain understands this now.
I have placed the Desktop folder on to a USB, which is in the desk drawer where Google Drive can't try to sync it to the cloud.
Many thanks Trevor and remmyhi.
