Try this script (placed in Restricted folder):
Edwin blurred background.zip
(620 Bytes) Downloaded 63 times
Write the text.
Be sure the layer with the text is selected in the Layers Palette.
Run the script.

Not exactly what you want but is a solution.
You may modify the Blur value inside the script and increase the number of Duplicate layer.

It works but creates a LOT of raster layers, typically with name "Copy (8) of Raster 2 Shadow 1". Can the script suppress or clean-up those layers? It seems the new TEXT is no longer a vector object but a raster object. That means the text cannot be edited? Since I'm using PSP v14, your script is from a newer version so a few warning/button windows pop-up. Thx

I try not to post edited versions of other people's scripts but to make Jean-Luc's script work the way you wan is pretty easy.

This can also be recorded pretty easily without having to re-write the script manually.

Start by opening your script toolbar if it's not already open, and hitting the record button.

1) Duplicate your text layer
2) Layers -> Arrange-> Move Down
3) Drop Shadow
4) Select Rasterized text layer
5) Delete Rasterized Text Layer
6) Apply Group to Drop Shadow Layer (Layers-> New Layer Group)
7) Select Drop Shadow Layer inside group
8) Duplicate Drop Shadow Layer 8 times
9) Select Group Layer
10) Layers -> Merge -> Merge Group

Save your recorded script.

Now your script will always result in only 1 additional layer, and your text layer will be preserved. Also since you recorded it, it won't warn that the script is from a newer version. Even better is that if all of your text objects are inside the same vector layer this will create a background color under all of them at the same time in a single background color layer.

Thanks, LeviFiction for finishing my work in progress.

I'm using this script before I publish photos on my website (www.stanleyville.be). In the script I posted here, I have only removed the last step (Merge all).

Care to describe how the script work? why necessarily eight iterations? Thx

The more the iterations, the more the blurred color is visible.
You may add more iterations of less. Try it manually and you will see how many iterations are needed to obtain the desired effect with your text, color, and image.
