:) Thanks Lata.

The actual project has been changed. Open the (vsp) project and the changes are there. Initially I'd rendered to 1080p, closed, then opened again later (I ALWAYS SAVE!!)
So... as the project itself changed, it's set in stone until I cut/snip the video segments again.

I'm okay with it as it's the very first time it has happened. I've created a load of other projects on this computer and the ONLY main difference is the DJI Mini 2 media. (Just about to create a new video)

Here's the project playing, with the longer initial segment and random pause:

I might wipe 2020 and finally move to 2021 (I was waiting for 2022)

Video studio 2022 will be released sometime in Feburary,

So if the project has changed do you see the pauses when playing back the timelines before Share?

Nope. The segments play as they're supposed to do and just pause in sections (with the indicator stating that it's still playing). Really odd. Just finished the new project without issue. I'll keep on an eye on projects that have mixed DJI/Go pro media.

Trevor -- I seem to recall that some people were finding that when creating proxy files, those files would somehow take over the final output i.e. they were somehow what was registered in the VSP file rather than the original videos. I think this may have been with VS2020 moreover, but I can't for the minute locate anything relevant or the details of exactly what happened, though I also seem to recall an intervention by Corel to fix it. But I can't find that either for the moment. Or maybe my aging brain is thinking of something else...! In any case, one would think that rendering such a VSP would show much lesser quality video, but that doesn't seem to be the case here.

Of course all software has bugs and VS is no exception, but that doesn't mean that your SPECIFIC issue has been part of VS for "multiple versions/years".

Try converting that file (GH010083.mp4) using HandBrake and see if the issue persists with the converted file.

Me: "I expect this type of behaviour from Videostudio as it's been doing silly things for multiple versions/years."
You've taken what I've said and made it 'specific'. No need for that and you more than likely knew what I meant! Never mind. Only TRYING to help.

@Ken Berry: The proxy issue, which I recall and also created a few rubbish projects, shared/rendered pretty rubbish low quality files. As you said, erasing the proxy files meant a perfectly rendered video. Those were the days. I erased the proxy files before.

Sorry to the OP for hijacking his thread! Only trying to assist. Hope you find a cure.

Just some thoughts…..
First can you provide more details of your project settings and the two types of video HD and 4k, in particular their frame rates.
You seem to indicate using Same as Project that rendered to 1080 and would indicate the project settings are HD
When you add your 4K to the project you are effectively downscaling the video, then depending on the frame rates could be removing frames.
When you share as HD the process looks ok and indeed should be ok
When you Share to 4K the project is now being upscaled, I assume using 50p / 60p frame rate would be adding frames to the project during rendering.
I am unsure how the render handles that but could result in duplicate frames that we see as the pause in playback.

As you need to mix video types you will be best to set the project to 4K. then when adding the HD 1080 the video will be upscaled.
Render that to 4K would not add or remove any frames.
To create a HD 1080 use the new 4K video to render to HD rather than rendering the project to HD.

Finally are you able to share the project by creating a Smart Package, you could create a shorter version using the HD and 4k video mix.

I did wonder why it 'initially' exported to 1080p! The above thus, probably, explains the issue. Simple user error on my behalf! I now actually check, to the top right, to see if it's set to 3840*2160!

Not sure I would agree its user error even though I have tried rendering various projects with different settings.
Rendering to HD and 4K but unable to replicate the pauses you are experiencing,, so maybe I am not using the same video or project settings.
The pauses do look as though duplicate frames have been added.

Just puzzling
