Reopening Project Everything is out of whack & timing - Corel VideoStudio 24.1.0.299
Hi all,
Hoping to have some help on this, or remedies if other people have also experienced this
I have created a music video project, taking a lot of time aligning clips and music to be in beat. After saving and closing my computer off for the night
I have returned in the morning, and it the whole project is not as i had saved it. All the timings are off, the clips are not the segments of the clip i had originally saved either
It sort of seems everything has shifted
This has happened to me on 2 different projects now
The first time, i thought maybe i had done something wrong....... but i made sure everything was saved and correct this time round 100% before saving/turning off my PC
And now it has happened again today. sort of seems like a bug
Regards,
Jordan

Does this happen with every project that you've made or only with your music videos?spitso wrote: I have returned in the morning, and it the whole project is not as i had saved it.

Doesn't seem like everytime. I just did another mock up test project, saved, restarted PC and everything seemed fineDoes this happen with every project that you've made or only with your music videos?
Not repeatable on command, which makes this harder to diagnose.

File->Save
Saves as *.VSP

Hi
Unfortunately random issues are as you say “harder to diagnose”
I assume you have several overlay tracks / music tracks and the top video track.
When you edit these tracks do you have Ripple Editing applied, this may help should you inadvertently remove a clip from the top track as it will then either keep things in line or give a warning.
When editing is the top track set in stone and you simply move / adjust the lower sound tracks, or are you working on the top track, trimming and removing parts. If so I believe Ripple Editing to be essential.
I do find it difficult to understand why the VSP content should change after saving the project.
Clearly you have experienced this several times.
For a start I would try to create copies of the work, using two projects the first being a backup of the project before editing, then a copy when complete, at least you can always go back a stage.

I do not have ripple editing applied ( i have no applied it)
I had 2 copies, in between different project progression, and both were affected. They did not open as they were saved

Seems buggy

Hi
Thanks for the image of your timelines very informative.
Are you sure there were no gaps, even small gaps of a few frames
Corel introduced a process called “gap editing” i believe with VS 2020, however there are problems, lets just say that “gap editing “does not work to well, in addition there are problems using Ripple Editing and gap editing. Personally I do not think Corel should use gap editing with VideoStudio.
Your image shows using gaps between your clips, I notice your first clip is a black colour clip, you can use the same instead of a gap.
I can only advise that you avoid creating any gaps within the top timeline.
Two options
1 / when separating your clips use a colour clip or an image.
2 /avoid using the top track placing your video on overlay track 1.
If you use the scissors to cut your clip into sections do not drag the clip but add a colour clip to separate the two clips, if you wish to move / tweak your clips position simply change the colour clips duration. Of course all other adjacent clips will move, so you need to work from left to right.
However you do it avoid gaps.
Unfortunately I do not know how to fix your out of sync clips on your existing project.
One thought, just prior to last saving your project did you change the project settings? May be modified the frame rate or changed the preferences from Pal - Ntsc

Can you upload your VSP project file, you will have to zip to attach to your post.
Better still if you can create a Smart Package you could share that via DropBox, google drive, one drive etc.
Not sure if we will find anything but worth a look

Re: Reopening Project Everything is out of whack & timing - Corel VideoStudio 24.1.0.299
The same thing happened to my project, this week.
Normally, I'd create the project, (saving at various times in case of a crash) create the 4k media, then create a 720p for other web pages, save then close.
In this case, I created the proxy files, created the project (it has audio and moving text in places). Mixed GoPro 9 and DJI Mini 2 media, with the 1080p (render/video/export/whatever word is needed to be obvious) saving as intended. Closed. Opened again realising that it had created 1080p, with the NEW 4k version having slightly longer clips and stopping for a few seconds in places.
It more or less wrecked the project. Glad that I had the perfect 1080p version, at least.
P.s. I expect this type of behaviour from Videostudio as it's been doing silly things for multiple versions/years.

Re: Reopening Project Everything is out of whack & timing - Corel VideoStudio 24.1.0.299
I am confused here, and it may be over the lack of a comma! You say "with the 1080p saving as intended", which implies to me that instead of simply saving the VSP project file (File > Save), you were somehow in the Share section and created an actual video. But then I thought that could also be read "with the 1080p, saving as intended" i.e. adding a comma in the middle, which implied "with the 1080p" went with Go Pro and DJI footage, and "saving as intended" meaning you did in fact save the VSP file. I am also assuming here that at least some of the GoPro and/or DJI footage was 4K.excalibur1814 wrote:I created the proxy files, created the project (it has audio and moving text in places). But if the latter is the case, then how did you end up with a "perfect 1080p version"? And what were your Project Properties which you were presumably saving if indeed you went to File > Save?

No, it hasn't.excalibur1814 wrote: I expect this type of behaviour from Videostudio as it's been doing silly things for multiple versions/years.
Rendering in different resolutions using VS doesn't wreck a project as the VSP is unchanged. There is no reason why rendering in 4K vice FHD should change the project length. It's unclear what you did and whether you're talking about the VSP or a rendered file.excalibur1814 wrote: Opened again realising that it had created 1080p, with the NEW 4k version having slightly longer clips and stopping for a few seconds in places.

Re: Reopening Project Everything is out of whack & timing - Corel VideoStudio 24.1.0.299
Yes, it has. VS has experienced random issues and crashes for years. This very forum is proof.
Okay. Step by step:
Normal way of working:
-Opens Corel videos studio 2020 (23.3.0.646)
-Import media. (ALL media is always 4K. Be it GoPro or DJI Mini. 30fps)
-Drop to the timeline. Accept to change the project to the default media type. 3840*2160p
-Wait for the proxy files to be created
-Start editing. Cutting. Adding audio. Add titles/text
-Save the project (vsp) at least every other change - in case one of the odd issues arises and it crashes
-Play the project, checking everything is correct and done
-Click share (Either go with the tick (Same as Project settings), or remove the tick)... MPEG-4, I usually create two versions. 4K and 1080p/720p (Depends)
In this case I actually rendered a 1080p video (probably setting saved from my last project. Saved (.vsp). Closed Corel VS, re-opened, created the 4K version. Closed. I then noticed that VS had somehow messed up the project. Clips were slightly longer. Slight pauses also included (Which is the one thing as it shouldn't pause at all). From the start of the first scene change... .
So, yeah, I changed my working habit as I usually start, save, then ONLY close VSP when finished. I'll know better from now on.

Re: Reopening Project Everything is out of whack & timing - Corel VideoStudio 24.1.0.299
P.s. Yes, there's always the chance of 'user error', but my workflow points towards something odd happening. Text is the LAST item I add.
Example: (This is the project/video that has the error)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eZ9lOFEImMk
Just after the LUKE text appears, the video changes to the 'next' scene. When re-opening the vsp file, the section just after the LUKE text is longer, then 'pauses', before moving on to the next scene. Seeing as I cut ALL the video WAY before adding text, something happened to the project. The next few scenes after the first are also longer and pause. I should have kept the video and uploaded both. Oh well.
Anyway, this isn't about me, it's about the OP having the SAME issue.
P.s. My favourite CVS crash happened when you'd go to re-size text. If you didn't enter the number correctly, it would flash a 'text must be between...' message and crash. I also loved the, 'you cannot move this here' warning. Try again and it would work. Or the re-linking issue when you'd try to erase the linked videos from the view. Crash. (Turns off re-linking). Anyway. Looking forward to updating to 2022 on my main machine. (I have 2021 on my laptop).

Re: Reopening Project Everything is out of whack & timing - Corel VideoStudio 24.1.0.299
I decided to open the vsp file (project) and share/render/create the 4K version (again):
https://youtu.be/bNLKqpCrAq8
The errors are:
-Slightly longer video segments
-Random pauses
-Some video segments start after the point of where they should be. Basically cutting the vid wherever it likes.
I'll do the usual troubleshooting and carry on. As long as 'I' get the 4k version, as well as the smaller version, I don't mind what happens after that. The OP, on the other hand, might want a solution.
Corel VS never crashes or causes issues? (Laughs internally but cries outwardly). Another fav crash/stop was when I once used nVidia CUDA to render/create/share the video. That was funny.

Hi excalibur1814
First I agree that there is an issue using 2021 for the OP that appears to be different to what you are experiencing. You are also working with 2020.
Spitso indicates that the timeline content has changed, whereas your issue appears to be related to Share / rendering
I have tried in vane to replicate the problems, even so I do believe there is a problem which should be reported to Corel Support
For your render issues , yes the latest YT video clearly shows the pauses.
When things go wrong have you first rendered to say 1080 then immediately to 4k,
Or have you close and opened the project.
Can you try deselecting Smart Render when creating the video just incase that is causing a problem.
Yes render times will be longer
Sometimes Smart Render is not so smart.
Just a thought
