PSP 2021 Not Recognising WIA Scanner

Post by Jerry »

I am using an HP 3630 Series All In One Printer / Scanner.
The program has worked on this scanner previously.
The Scanner is working through the Windows Scan App & through the HP Smart Program.
WIA is set to Automatic & is Running.
All Diagnostics show that everything is working correctly.
PSP 2021, on the other hand, does not seem to agree & says that there is no WIA Device present.

Any suggestions on how I can tell PSP that there IS a Scanner there & where to find it?

I have experienced an issue with the scan icon and reported it to Corel so it's in their queue but I have no idea if/when it will be resolved.

File - Import - From Scanner or Camera works for me so I have customized PSP by adding that as an icon to the toolbar.

Are you using the 32 bit or 64 bit version of PSP 2021? Does File > Import > From Scanner or Camera work? I always use the latter. I have a color Brother laser multifunction printer/scanner. It theoretically has a 32 bit TWAIN but I have never been able to get it working with PSP. So I use Import > From Scanner or Camera as that always works, though perhaps the interface is not quite as sophisticated as the TWAIN process.

EDIT: Sorry Kathy. I see you have already answered this while I was fiddling around with my MFC printer/scanner. But again I could not get the 32 bit TWAIN working. I'm glad we agree on Import > From Scanner or Camera though!

Whenever I try to do Import from Scanner or Camera, it starts looking, just as it always did, then comes up & says that there is no WIA device installed, yet there clearly is as it's working on other Applications.
If I try to use TWAIN there is nothing listed.

EDIT: I'm using the 64 Bit version.
Bear in mind that this always used to work, but all of a sudden it stopped.
I have even gone through the full procedure of setting up the Printer again.

Jerry - I have an HP Envy Photo 7155 and I received the WIA error message in the past but I did so much fiddling that I forget the circumstances. I'm no longer getting it though. I have both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of PSP installed but pretty much exclusively use the 32-bit version.

Maybe try a reset and reboot and see if the situation changes and you can use the import option.

Reset instructions in case you need them. https://forum.corel.com/viewtopic.php?f=56&t=67616

I think I've found the problem. It's just I don't know how to fix it.
On checking the Details in Printer Properties I see the Driver installed is WSD and not WIA.
I think the question now is how do I make it run on a WIA Driver?

Before you do anything remember that Hp only created a 32 bit wia driver. Try paintshoip pro 32 bit version that works with Hp scanners. Not many companies support 64 bit twain scanners yet for their products. Paintshop pro does but Hp does not.
