Can anyone say if PSP2022 will run a on a brand new iMac using Parallels to provide Windows 10 ARM beta? Does it run on the new ARM version of Windows at all? I'm sure it will have to sooner or later.
I can certainly say that PSP2021 doesn't work for me under Parallels. It comes up but when I track down and try to load a file, nothing happens. Several times it has declared an inscrutable error and closed down. It is not backward in wanting me to buy PSP2022 though! It may be that I am just new to the Mac, new to Parallels and not as bright as I once was.
I am very reluctant to use an alternative photo editor. I have used PSP since the good old JASC days in Windows 3.1 and all versions since, but it could be that it's about to lose a loyal user. I have tried alternatives, but have never found anything else that does just what I want. I scan and edit old slides and find that PSP does a good job of restoring/adjusting colours, reducing grain and getting rid of dust and scratch marks.
I can manage in an emergency by running it on a Windows laptop and using VNC to control the laptop from the iMac, but that's a very clunky and slow solution.
Thanks
Michael

Why not try the trial version available on Corel's website? It is fully functional for 30 days.

Thank you, but... Someone at Corel should be able to say if the program was written with ARM in mind and save me potentially wasting my time.
ARM is new thing on Windows. See https://www.techrepublic.com/article/wh ... name-apps/.

There may be someone at Corel who knows about this. But I hope you are aware that no one on this forum works for Corel. We are all users like you who volunteer our time to try to help other users. It is quite rare for an actual Corel employee to appear here on a specific issue.

Thanks. Just about every big company relies on crowd support these days. It's cheap.
Adobe have released their product for ARM (https://www.dpreview.com/news/880017307 ... ecommended.)
Maybe Corel will catch up eventually.

Re: PSP2022 on iMac 2021 M1 under Parallels
After an exchange of half a dozen emails beating my head against a brick wall with a Corel service agent and being stonewalled, I was informed that:
"Regarding your query, as per checked with the concern team and came to know there is no version of Paintshop Pro is compatible with ARM based processor. [the concern team? I had asked her to check with the programmers]
"Kindly check the PSP 2022 system requirements on the below link.
Link: https://www.paintshoppro.com/en/product ... tech-specs" [Sigh. I had already told her that published info doesn't cover my system]
"As of now PSP 2022 is the latest version and there is no updates regarding the release of compatible Paintshop programs for ARM processor."
In other words, if they are working on a version that will work with the new generation of ARM-based PCs, the "concern team" is not aware.
They'll be concerned when they start losing revenue, I'm sure.

Re: PSP2022 on iMac 2021 M1 under Parallels
The big thing to remember is that PSP and Adobe serve different audiences and have different amounts of resources. PSP has never been made for any OS but Windows. And at this exact moment I'm time Windows is still not great on ARM. Though Apple had to make their own hardware to make their OS work and as Apple users are a huge part of Adobe's base it behooved them to make the move as swiftly as possible. They probably even had advanced hardware models to work with and design around. Corel may need to examine AfterShot and more professional grade software that do support MacOS for Arm but PSP will always be on the slow side assuming Windows ever makes a sufficient jump to ARM. So far Microsoft has seen it more as a niche than a necessity.
