Unplayable !...why in the World is that?

Why are all DVD mastered by Ulead unplayable on PCs? What is happening?
... and I am not the only one, see for yourself:

"The way Ulead MovieFactory mastered the DVD made it unplayable on any of my desktop DVD players. Ripping the VOB files back to disc and re-burning it as DVD using Nero showed a re-ordering of files and a properly playing disc on all machines. Still a lot to do for Ulead."

What is going on? Not one DVD plays on any of my 4 PC's.
Mac plays it. Some independant players do and some others dont.
Is there no way to set some standard rules for this technology?
This is unbearable!

What version of MovieFactory?
What DVD burner are you using, Name & Model?
Are you burning using MovieFactory?
What Name/Brand of Dvd are you using?

What software program are you trying to play them using the computer?
Ulead DVD Player?

Responding to your questions:

I am burning with MF4
Burner: Lite-on LDW-8575
DVDs using: lately: SAMSUNG PLEOMAX DVD-R 8X
Software using to play them: Power DVD

Curiously it works sometimes when I use a DVD R-W
I dont know what this other person I mentioned is using.

Thanks.

Most probable cause would be the media compatibility with the dvd burner.

But, your not saying what the problem is. Can PowerDvd at least see the DVD in the drive or it the dvd not playing correctly.

If you suspect the burning stage then either create dvd folders or an ISO file and burn the dvd using the dvd folders or ISO file.
MF4 has a utility to do this. Nero also will do this.

I have an older "Lite-On" burner that gives me problems with certain media. It loves burning DVD+R's though.

Make sure to have the latest update version 4.02 installed. Solved some issues.

Hope this helps,

No, it says either 'wrong media' or 'no disk' at all.
I will follow the steps you are telling me.
What puzzles me is that my Apple notebook plays it all (?!?).
thanks for your help. I'll let you know.

I repleaced my old Lite-on with a new Pionner DVR-110D,
and everything works perfectly well.
You were right about the Lite-on burner.
One problem solved. Thank you
