The product page claims: "Open and edit iPhone photos saved in high-efficiency image files (HEIC, HIF)"
So i must understand they won't open HEIC files from anywhere else (Android, Digital Cameras, Windows)
AFAIK, HEIC is a container format, non-dependent from OS....
But perhaps I'm wrong.... cus the other plausible explanation is that the content manager of corel is one of this hipster childs that thinks the sun rises and sunset only because iPhones exists...
Why PSP 2022 claims it won't open Android HEIC files?

Re: Why PSP 2022 claims it won't open Android HEIC files?
I don't own a device / mobile phone that uses this format. But on the website "https://filesamples.com/formats/heic" I downloaded a HEIC example file and was able to open it with PSP 2022. But I can't save the picture.
However, if I want to open this sample file with paint.net, I have to pay in the Microsoft Store first to use the format in Windows 10.
Error message in paint.net:
Working with this file type requires the installation of a codec from the Microsoft Store: https://www.microsoft.com/p/hevc-video- ... mzlz57r3t7
I didn't find any more information about it. Maybe someone else knows more about it?

Apple was the first to adopt one of these high compression formats as their official format and as such they are ones most often found using it. I think this is why they emphasize the iOS aspect. Android supports it but only if the camera hardware supports it. My camera does not. And even if it did I'm more excited by JPGXL than HEIC anyway.

Heic was developed by the Moving Picture Experts Group (MPEG), under the ISO / IEC 23008-12 standard in 2015. Since then, it has been adopted by a number of manufacturers, including Apple, Microsoft, and Canon. Problem is each have tweaked their version a bit. Most popula is Heic from Apple. Though due to tweaking it they have not told people how to create it only open it. So in my opinion untill apple rfease how to create their version of Heic it will not become popula
