The duration of the selected file should be longer than 00:11:53.22

Post by GuyCre8ive »

Anyone know why I keep getting this error after I copy all the project files over the network to my rendering system? I just bought the new version and it's still doing it with certain files. I am 100% sure I am selecting the exact same file when I try to relink it on the rendering system.

need more information than that to help . .
- a step by step process you followed
- screenshot of the error, or the condition you think is an error
- version of VS you are using
- maybe properties of the video clip that is your concern.

Thinking out loud here -

The project Timeline has a clip (probably a video clip) with a unique file name that is 11:53.22 long.
You copied what you think are all of the project files to a new location to render.
Rendering throws an error message "The duration of the selected file should be longer than 00:11:53.22"

This would mean the file you sent over is not the file used when you created the project - the file is too short (by even one frame).

Here is how I would try to resolve the issue: create a Smart Package packed as a Folder. This will create a copy of all files used in the project into the folder you created and named. Send that folder with files to your rendering system.

Trying the smart package suggestion now but here's a video of me just changing the folder name and getting the same error:

I just created the exact path on the rendering machine and it's opening there as well so it's not the actual file, the error is coming from the path changing.

OK the smart package works, that's a pretty cool feature I didn't know existed. Thank you!
