Hello! This is the solution I've been looking for all night! I know that you can click maintain transparency to only paint over places with color while painting on a layer, but how can I make a new layer that will only enable me to paint over the same parts that are not translucent on the prior layer? I'd want to paint within the lines, but on separate levels, with different colors. I hope that was clear! One More Question So, at work, I'm creating a book and I want everything to seem like it's written on a chalkboard... Anyone have any off-the-shelf Corel methods (for the font, I'm simply using a normal blackboard picture for the background)? I'm sure I can work it out, but this isn't my only project, and I felt Reddit would know more than me tinkering with it.
Also, don't tell me I can't utilize Adobe goods; if I could, I would.
Corel question - how to only paint over previous layer's colored/nontransparent areas?

Just to let you know I have moved your post to the PaintShop Pro forum since I assume that is the program you have when in your Profile you refer to the program as "2021". You are likely to get more responses here.

Could you duplicate the layer and paint on the duplicated layer?markjordan wrote: ↑Tue Aug 24, 2021 2:18 am how can I make a new layer that will only enable me to paint over the same parts that are not translucent on the prior layer? You can use the magic wand tool to create a selection.
Set Mode to "All Opaque" and check "Use all Layers" then click over an opaque area. It'll select the area of the under layer, then when you brush you can only brush inside the selection.
