MPEG4 plug in won't download

Post by LSHorwitz »

Tried to download the mpeg4 plugin and it failed 5 times, thus I can no longer attempt to load it. I tried using a PC, a Mac, and another PC and all failed. No popup blockers were turned on.

The serial number is fine. I downloaded the HDV plugin without problems.

How do I get the mpeg4 plugin??

If you are having problems downloading the HDV and MP4 plugins, please send an email to ronald@ulead.com. He should be able to help you out.

When I first tried downloading them, I had my pop-up blockers disabled, but I did disable my firewall. The firewall apparently prevented me downloading, strange that it did. Once I disabled both pop-up blocker and firewall I was able to downlod and install.

Thanks for the email contact and also the firewall suggestion. I have sent an email and hopefully will get a download link to use. I will also disable my firewall. There were NO SUGGESTIONS to do so on Ulead's web page or in their email.

Many thanks.

Thanks jchunter for your excellent advice. Ron got me totally fixed up, and I am entirely delighted at how quick and helpful his response was. I've purchased quite a few Ulead products and upgrades over the years, and I have never had such outstanding assistance from Ulead (or for that matter most other companies) as Ron provided.

Thanks again for the suggestion,

Larry

Thanks JcHunter. I also sent an email to the address you have given and within a hour I had a reply pointing me to an alternative download site.

Installed OK and looking forward to having a play with the new MP4 plug in.

You all are certainly welcome. Ulead Tech Support deserves a lot of credit for really being on the ball with this problem.

Just managed to install the HDV plug in BUT
It cleared all my custom project settings
The make movie templates have gone,
My Custom Library Manager Templates have all gone.
EVERYTHING has reverted back to the way it was when I first installed the program.
Worse for me. I just installed UVS9 from scratch and immediately installed both the MPEG4 and HDV plug-ins, and now have only the MPEG4 output formats listed in the Make Movie Manager Templates dialog. NONE of the original UVS9 templates are listed.

How can one restore the original templates?

p.s. From your experience, what else was likely damaged and needs repair?

I recently had cause to use the repair option and found that it preserved all of my templates and settings including the MPEG4 and HD Plug ins.

Just pop your installation CD back into the CD drive and start the install procedure again. This time a fresh option appears to repair your installation.

Worth a try.

Obviously a newbie.

As everyone familiar w/ UVS9 knows, the standard movie formats are still available when outputting a video... you just can't modify them directly in the Make Movie Manager Templates dialog. Probably a good move from Ulead's standpoint, to prevent users from disturbing "standard" formats.

If you want to create a new format by slightly tweaking a standard format, you can either create the New format manually, or... save a short video clip using the original output format, and then open this video clip using the Add button in the MMM Templates dialog and customize the Added template. Note, however, that the MMM Templates dialog ADD button supports VERY FEW formats. So far I've found it to NOT support WMV, RealVideo or MPEG4. (I *have* been able to add MPEG2 formats via ADD.)
