Post by lancecarr »

Just checked the Ulead site, the new High definition and MPEG4 plugin is now available for registered users of VS9.

Cool, but a link is in order :)

Enter your serial number and download 'em here;

TIP: turn OFF your popup blocker first.

*** WARNING ***
Just managed to install the HDV plug in BUT
It cleared all my custom project settings
The make movie templates have gone,
My Custom Library Manager Templates have all gone.
EVERYTHING has reverted back to the way it was when I first installed the program.

The MPEG4 Plug-in has said I have used up my 5 download attempts so Cannot tell you what that is/does. It appears that download stopped halfway through on my 5th attempt. Good job I dont really need it (I think - dont really know what it does, was just being nosey to find out)

Nice one ULEAD. Now I have to recreate the project I was working on.

I have a broadband connection but the downloads were only working at the speed of my old modem connection.

Is there a trick to entering the SN? I've tried multiple times and it gives the message: "This serial number can not be used for this activity. Only FULL, ESD, and UPG users can join this activity."

I have the full version of VS9.

Just for laughs, I tried my SN of MSP7 (full version also) and it gave the same generic message. It didn't even say that its an invalid SN for this offer.

If I put in some bogus number, it will say "This is serial number is incorrect. Please check the number again." (Their poor grammar, not mine.)

PHD,

Did you use the serial number provided when you downloaded, or your VS9 serail number? I believe you are supposed to use the one provided on the download.

You need to use the Videostudio serial number to register for the download. The popup window that gives you the download link contains an activation code for the plugin -- copy-and-paste it verbatim into the dialog displayed by the installer, and it should work.

I have the full box version purchased retail. The SN is on the CD sleeve. It certainly had no problem putting that # into the program.

Thoff's post reminded me I might not have registered the program yet and that might be the issue. I hadn't. I registered it at Ulead with the same SN without a problem. Still did not have any luck with entering my SN for the HDV plugin download though.

The instant I click submit for my SN I get the message. I don't get to a download link at all. I don't get beyond the page posted previously.

I just tried to download the HDV plugin and failed miserably!
(1) I followed the (above) link to the download page,
(2) I entered the serial number from the CD jacket of my boxed version of VS9, verbatim,
(3) I pressed the Submit button,
(4) The download page disappeared, then reappeared with my serial number intact and I waited, and waited, and waited......

Nothing happens.

Nice going, Ulead. The web site is more frustrating than Video Studio!

BTW, if anyone does succeed in downloading, you can preserve your custom library by saving the files VS_Video.dat and VS_Image.dat that are located in \Documents and Settings\<user name>\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Ulead Video Studio\9.0 and then restoring them after the plugin is installed.

I get the same message as phd. I have a total of 3 Serial numbers for VS9. If VS would crash and I needed to reinstall, I would get the corrupt file error. So I got another download, and disc, that's where the multiple ser#'s come from. I tried all 3 and none works. :(

Wanting the MPEG4 plugin I can understand -- I downloaded that myself, and think it's pretty cool. But what are 99% of us going to do with the HDV plugin?

Torsten,
I want the HDV plugin because I'm seriously considering trading in my GS400 and buying a Sony HC1 (or maybe Pana will announce the GS500 as an HDV competitor). Before I do, I want to see what support Ulead has planned both in Media Studio and Video Studio. Since I don't have an HC1 in hand, I will have to experiment by downloading HDV clips in various formats and see what works and what doesn't.

However, the larger question is the mess that Ulead has made of its website. I can't download anything...

I also thought I'd get it out of curiosity - I don't have the equipment for it yet, but you never know..
Just a tip - the download worked when I disabled my firewall as well as the popup blocker.

I create samples and standards and test cross platform compatibility PC<>MAC as well as cross-product compatibility -SDTV, HDTV, PS,TS, etc. What plays nicely with what. This way I can provide answers as well as I use Ulead products to create samples and produce tutorials.

I also use a MAC and sometimes its easier or better to work on one platform vs. the other.
