I just started a new project in Pro X8. I have all the video and photos in the Thumbnails and have added a little video and a few photos to the timeline. BUT, I just purchased Video Studio 2021. Can I "move" this very new project to 2021, or wait and complete it in Pro X8?
If I should move it to 2021, are there any instructions/a tutorial that will guide me through the steps to open the project in 2021 with all the data I have in Pro X8? I have been trying to find this in the discussions and have not found anything.

First make a copy of your X8 vsp.
If you have 2021 install then just try to load it into 2021 and see.
You might get issues with FX or clip speed .
* You should not remove your X8, you can use it for years to come.

OK. Issues with FX or clip speed. Hmm. I think you may have previously been not too impressed 2021. I think I will continue in X8 with this project and when I go onto the next new project open it up in 2021. I have lots of video to use/learn with the 2021 software.
Thanks for the feedback.

When we work with Video Studio 2021 we can no longer save the project to open in an earlier version, backwards compatibility for 3 versions was available, but no longer.
That means if you open your X8 project using 2021 and save, it will no longer open using X8.
Best to create a copy of the project VSP just for 2021 then you can work on both if you wish.
I would rename the projects as My_Project X8 and My Project 2021.
Your best option is to create a Smart Package that will save all clips used in the project to a new folder, that dedicated folder could then be used in 2021 without affecting the existing X8 project.
File - Smart Package, if you have not used this it may be worth a go just for the experience.
Even so if you do work using 2021 you should keep X8 installed to retain the programs files that may be used in the project.

For each version of the software, I have separate Master Folders. Within those Master Folders are sub folders for Projects, Movies, etc..
