Thank you so much for trying. I will try again tomorrow. It doesn't seem like much images, but for a tutorial that is sometimes enough. For a show of your holiday or family gathering four photo's would be not enough. It's what you want from a program. Thanks again. Will post my findings, hoping it might help others.

Update: I can't seem to drag photo's into the timeline. I have 10 photo's, not screenshots, it selects 6 to make a reel. End result is not bad. Haven't finetuned it yet, but the dragging into the timeline doesn't work.
Do you have the VideoStudio version by any chance? Or the version that comes with PSP 2022?

I have both versions
PSP version is stand alone and seems to work in the same way as the Video Studio version
For this post I am using the PSP version which completes the process by creating a MP4 video

The Video Studio version also allows us to open the created effect as a Video Studio Project, that allows us to add other features so works a little differently. I do have some issues with the VS version relating to the number of images used and their duration, a little difficult to explain. But that is using a lot of images.

Ok
After choosing Create the selected images are placed on the lower timeline.
I can select any image and drag to another position, I can also drag the end of the clip to increase its duration, setting the duration seems to max to 10 sec, but as I say I can drag to increase that.

Maybe you should give Video Studio trial a run to see if that is more appropriate, I mean VS not the HR that comes with it.
Not on my pc at the moment but if you are still having issues i can try to provide a screen shot / video of what I see, tomorrow that is....

Trevor -- are you talking here about MCCL or Highlight Reel? I ask because I find Highlight Reel very limited -- little more than a simple slideshow maker with almost zero formatting options. I can't find a way to set my own title and just get a sans serif text telling me the month and year. Moreover, the title remains on the first image for its whole length, rather than fading out or otherwise letting that image be seen without the title covering it the whole time.

Like you, however, I can at least drag an image to another position on the timeline, and also left click and drag the right hand edge of an image to increase its duration.. As I said much earlier here, though, with a reel of 4 images, only one of them gets a very slow pan. And I've just noticed that another image, which is standard size though in portrait mode, cuts off the top of structure in the middle of the image -- a structure which is the main point of the image. Not sure why that has happened but it appears that the app can only play landscape images correctly. If so, then it rather negates any practical use for this app, at least for me.

Ken
I am testing Highlight Reel, I can no longer install MCCL psp version, Corel are working on that
Highlight reel is not something I would use, only for testing.

Unusual to use only 4 images, I did not look at the transitions but will check that out.

Highlight Reel seems to use some AI to scan the images, face recognition etc.
Using VS version the final output creates a vsp to be used on the main vs timelines allowing us to edit further.
If i use 50 images the analyse shows 50 being used yet not all are added to the timeline to be used in the final video, quick test shows only 25 being used, just confuse the main timeline frame rates affect the image duration. For me its not worth using.
However if the program is highlighting some of our selection then I guess its doing that.

I can tweak the settings to use all 30 but defaults to 2 seconds each, this is the same using VS Version, yes I have posted to centercode during beta 2021
Using PSP Version only outputs to a mp4 video so difficult to count the images used.
I will check that later today.

As for Zantara using 4 images should work, not many images to tweak there.

I only used 4 images just to test the program. It worked, apart from the portrait image which I still see as a major problem. I also suspect that one in four getting the pan treatment implies that too might be only rarely applied, but who knows. What did you get with your 50 down to 25 used?

And I think that is another problem. Not sure how it makes the choice, but suspect it has something to do with how -- as discussed above -- it reads the time the image was taken, if it can see anything of that. For example, the image chosen for the title, which as I said, has the title over it the whole time, is the one image which for some reason doesn't have a specific date or time. Yet I only took that image a couple of weeks ago with my new smartphone (a Huawei). Is that why the image went for the whole length of the image? Yet the EXIF for that image clearly has a date and time.

Anyway, like you, this was all done just in the interest of experimentation. There is no way in the world I would use this program seriously... It is just so easy -- having VS or any number of other NLEs -- to make a much more serious a better looking slideshow video, and probably just about as quickly...

I thought Highlight Reel could be useful. After trying it and following tips and advise here, I have decided I have no practical use for it, either. Thank you for all the imput
Using 4 images for a reel is, as written before, not useful in a photo reel. I write tutorials. And four images could be enough to give an overview.
You have to keep the attention, so the shorter the more chance of that.
But I can use the slider options that comes with Wordpress (themes) to achieve a similar result.

I tried again to drag photo's to the timeline. No succes. I don't know what else I can try.
ZV_highlightreel.jpg
I unchecked the date option. I get no title or anything else on my reel.
Out of the ten photo's six were selected for the reel.

I think I'm done experimenting. It is not useful to me and I accept that and hope for MCL to be fixed soon.

Ken as I said I did raise the issues during beta 2021 that not all images were used even though a message shows to use all images the analyse shows 50, yet create uses much less. Using the VS version seemed to differ depending on the project frame rate, appears to work better with NTSC?? PSP has no such setting.

If we set Manual it will use all selected images but at 2 seconds. Not a problem for the 4 images as easy to increase the duration, not that we should have to do that.
Zantara
I do not have a problem dragging clips from the gallery to the timeline, drops them using 2 seconds.
Unfortunately little to no additional options, just creates a MP4
I noticed the portrait images are also using a Background Blur filter to fill the L/R border, that uses similar colours to the image, seems to work quite well.

Would be good to have a tutorial link within the HR panel

As I mentioned Video Studio may be what you need to create a slide show, each image could be animated to fly, spin / fade into the screen, practically doing anything you need

Hi Trevor,

I currently use Powerpoint to make a slideshow with different animations and save that as an mp4.
Or I use the free version of Active Presenter to make a videoclip.
Maybe time to invest in Video Studio. But I normally don't work with video, except for tutorials. I am more of a still photographer. :D

You could always download a trial of Video Studio to see if it's what you need.

As I said above, I have all the photos in the Highlight timeline. Then, to move them about, I use the mouse and left click in the one I want to move. That highlights the image. I keep the left key depressed and simply drag the image to right or left until I reach the point I want. Then I release the left key.

In the meantime all problems have been solved :D
Thanks to the installation issue of MCCL being fixed, that works fine now.
And whether or not that is pure coincidence, Highlight Reel works as well now.
I can drag images or photos into the timeline.

Combining apps I have now for video recording and editing and annotation, I don't need to invest in Video Editor. I was a bit weary about having to spend another € 50.
Hope that for other users all problems with the apps have been solved as well.

One thing I've noticed about Highlight Reel is that it wants to determine the order of the images in the timeline based on the date in the properties. I tried opening the images in the order I wanted them to appear. I tried dragging them into the order I wanted but they would revert to what Highlight Reel wanted. I tried renaming the images 1, 2, 3, 4, etc. and even tried removing the date from properties.

I've tried it a few times now. Both with photo's and with images and a combination of those.
You have to click "Create" first and in the timeline you can drag the photo/image in the right order.
Once you have a reel, you can add images from a folder into the main area and from there into that reel
For me the app is a whole lot of nothing. Don't think I'll use it for anything.
Note the different order in the reel

Funny thing is I did 'create' first and then tried dragging them on the reel and I could drag one image but when I went to move another image the first image would return to it's original position. Then if I would press the play button they would revert to the original lineup. This happened multiple times too; not just once. Very strange. I wish I would have recorded it so you could see that I'm not crazy. Anyhow, appears to be a moot point as I just tried it again and its working as it should.

@Zantara - thanks for testing.
