Multicam Capture Lite & Highlight Reel Issues - Apps with PSP 2022

Post by Zantara »

I have purchased Corel's PaintShop Pro Ultimate 2022.
One of the extra additional apps; Multicam Capture Lite does not work at all and Highlight Reel only the first time.
I have tried uninstalling, downloading again, installing again.
Some people in my PSP community reported the same issue with the same apps. No issues with PSP or any of the other apps.

I contacted Corel support and, as in two previous cases, all they want is the winaudit file and the msinfo file.

I do not want to provide that, as it is very comprehensive and I know it is not my system causing the apps not to run (properly).

However they do not offer any other solution and the ticket is now closed as I refused the winaudit/msinfo solution.

Is there any other support option?

Reason they need winaudit info is to find out why the apps are not working properly. Winaudit just listd programs and drivers and graphics cards and chips in your computer, also operating system version. The problem here could simply be down to a driver or a windows update. It could also be down to computer language used or font. I had a fault with videostudio not opening gave them the winaudit and they tracked it down to a Intel Driver that was preventing it from starting. Software issues are common thing tracking them down is not. Could be a font that causuing the fault, I simply don't know without info. What most computer companies do with winaudit is take info and look at a computer that yje software works on and see what is different and eliminate the differences. The only way to track down the fault is to give the information across.

@Splash3313
Thank you for that. I just thought it was a bit too in depth to hand out to any Tom, Dick or Harry.
So I have the choice. Leaving as is or make a new ticket and do the winaudit and msinfo and if it can't be solved accept that I really should have waited for the Pro version. :D

@Radim...I haven't decided yet.
PSP 2022 became available to the general public only today.
I might wait and see if Corel does something about it, if many people are complaining.
If I don't have to hand in all these details, including my computer serial number, computer name, user name and a few other bits and pieces I consider personal, then I won't.

I have bought the release versions of PSP 2022 Ultimate. FWIW I have just been trying to use Highlight Reel -- though I have to say that in reality, I would never want to use it, even if I can see it being useful to a number of other users.

I have to say that the first three times I ran it, I could not get it to Export a final video. Each time it crashed, despite my changing the image files. However, the fourth and final time, it worked smoothly and quickly. I am a bit surprised, however, by the lack of any real controls in it apart from being able to adjust the properties of the final video. The output is rather simplistic. A title is inserted, though again I am not sure if you can adjust the font used and other aspects of the title. The occasional panning is inserted on some images, though the majority were untouched.

As I say, I am totally unlikely to use this feature. Slideshows made in Video Studio are simple and effective to make, but you can adjust all aspects of the production. Highlight Reel does not appear to allow this.

But Zantara, despite my initial problems in Exporting, certainly it works more than the first time...

@Ken..thanks for that.
I just tried Highlight Reel again.
The program works in so far it doesn't crash.
I try to make a quick mp4 out of a few screencaptures, an original photo and the edited endresult to show steps in a tutorial.
It won't recognise the dates of the screencapture and the original photo.
That means you can't put the images in the right order and there is no setting for that.

But the Multicam Capture doesn't even start up.

I have decided to wait and see if Corel is willing to do something about the app, as more people complain about the Multicam Capture app.
If nothing happens over the next couple of weeks, I might go for another support ticket.

Sorry. I just don't use the Multicam Capture at all. Ever. Not once! Mind you, there are people here who know how to use it, and some who even seem to think it does a good job. Not me...

I don't have VideoStudio, of which Multicam Capture has been a part for a while, apparently. It's new to PaintShop. And all of a sudden I realise where the problem could be. VideoStudio will have dll's or even a single dll that Multicam might need to function. PaintShop might not have the required dll('s).

First MCCL although provided with Video Studio and now PSP is a stand alone program so there should be no Dll files in Video Studio that affect MCCL
I do have problems with what may be called version collision where uninstalling an earlier Video Studio version may remove MCCL, not that it does such a good job of uninstalling, I find it removes MCCL from Program and Features list yet the program is still installed on the pc. The only way I now found was to use Revo Hunter mode to remove the program, although deleting the folder “C:\Program Files\Corel\MultiCam Capture Lite” may also do the trick.
Then installing PSP version should install as ok and work.

My previous MCCL installed using Video Studio was version 1.2.7.654
Now I have installed the PSP version as 1.2.7.680 and launches ok.

I have not used this to capture as yet but will do so as it appears to be a later version, I did have some problems with capture frame rates, so hoping that has been fixed.

Highlight Reel works for me; however, Multicam Capture Lite does absolutely nothing - failure to launch.

Not sure. I have an old version of VS installed X4. Does that include MCCL?

No that would have been LSC (Live Screen Capture), I believe a free version was provided with PSP, maybe 2019.

As I had MCCL installed from Video Studio I decided to uninstall but that only removes the entry in Program and Features, at least that’s my experience.
I then removed / deleted the MCCL folder
C:\Program Files\Corel\MultiCam Capture Lite

Then I installed the PSP version of MCCL which appears to work ok.

Well, in that case then, no I don't have a previous version installed. Thanks.

I tried going to the Control Panel and doing a repair and that did absolutely nothing. So I've uninstalled it. Apparently it doesn't like me and I've decided I'm not going to take it personally.😁
