Must close PSP 2020 in Task Manager to open

Post by coeurl »

Every time I want to open PSP 2020 I have to open my task manager and end the task "Corel Paintshop Pro 2020 (64 bit)" or the program won't open. Is there any way to get around this extra step?

For what it's worth, when I go to the PSP icon on my taskbar, both the 64 and 32 bit show as choices though I've never used the 32. And only the 64 bit shows in my program list. Might this be related?

Thanks!

No. I'm afraid it is a common occurrence, but it only occurs for a few users. I am also affected by it, but not all the time. I am not aware of any way to fix it. By now, if I can't open PSP, I know I have to go into Task Manager -- so I guess I have become used to it. If anyone else finds a fix, though, I will be very interested.

And most of us will have installed, as recommended, both the 32 and 64 bit versions, so I am 99% certain this has nothing to do with our shared problem.

Thanks! It drove me crazy for weeks before I found the Task Manager fix on this forum. Until then I was rebooting every time I wanted to open it.

It didn't happen right after installation either, so maybe it was connected to a system update. In any case appreciate your time and expertise!
